2014-11-05 Thread Kathy Lussier

Hi all,

I'm sending along a reminder that if you would like us to set up a
Sandbox for you on Bug Squashing Day, please submit your requests by the
end of the day tomorrow. The request form is available at
http://goo.gl/forms/boKucpwnpz.

Thanks!

Hi all,

Our next community Bug Squashing day is November 10, just a week away
from today. I have posted details about the day at
http://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=dev:bug_squashing:2014-11-10.

The goal of the day is for all members of the Evergreen community
(developers, support staff, users, fans) to work together to reduce
bugs in Evergreen. The recap from our last bug squashing day at
http://evergreen-ils.org/bug-squashing-day-wrap-up/ can give you a
sense of the type of activity that occurs during the day.

Anyone interested in improving Evergreen is invited to help out during
the day by confirming (or, in some cases, unconfirming) bugs, testing
bug fixes, fixing bugs, and/or merging bug fixes into Evergreen.

To make it as easy as possible for all members of the community to
participate, MOBIUS and MassLNC will once again provide Sandboxes that
can be used to test bug fixes. If you need to use a Sandbox, please
fill out the request form at http://goo.gl/forms/boKucpwnpz by the end
of the day Thursday, November 6, to give us sufficient time to load
the code. We will have a limited number of Sandboxes available and may
not be able to accommodate all requests, but we’ll do our best to see
that everyone who wants to test a bug fix has the opportunity to do so.

If you have any questions or ideas to make Bug Squashing Day even
better, feel free to let me know!

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] SECURITY RELEASES available: Evergreen 2.7.1, 2.6.4, and 2.5.8

2014-11-05 Thread Galen Charlton
On behalf of the Evergreen contributors, the 2.7.x release maintainer
(Ben Shum) and the 2.6.x and 2.5.x release maintainer (Dan Wells), we
are pleased to announce the release of Evergreen 2.7.1, 2.6.4, and
2.5.8.

The new releases can be downloaded from:

http://evergreen-ils.org/egdownloads/

THESE RELEASES CONTAIN SECURITY UPDATES, so you will want to upgrade
as soon as possible.

In particular, they fix a bug where even if a user had logged out of
the Evergreen public catalog, their login session was not removed.
This would permit somebody who had access to the user’s session cookie
to impersonate that user and gain access to their account and
circulation information.

After installing the Evergreen software update, it is recommended that
memcached be restarted prior to restarting Evergreen services and
Apache. This will clear out all user login sessions.

All three releases also contain bugfixes that not related to the
security issue. For more information on the changes in these release,
please consult the change logs:

2.7.1: http://evergreen-ils.org/downloads/ChangeLog-2.7.0-2.7.1
2.6.4: http://evergreen-ils.org/downloads/ChangeLog-2.6.3-2.6.4
2.5.8: http://evergreen-ils.org/downloads/ChangeLog-2.5.7-2.5.8

Regards,

Galen

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Patron Record problem with 2.6.1

2014-11-05 Thread Jennifer Pringle (Project Sitka)

Hello Don,

Based on your screenshots and description it sounds like your users
don't have working locations assigned (Staff Patron Record - Other -
User Permission Editor). I don't know why this would have changed
with your upgrade but would definitely check this just in case if you
haven't already.

Jennifer

Quoting Donald Butterworth don.butterwo...@asburyseminary.edu:

Colleagues,

Ever since upgrading to 2.6.1 we have been unable to add or edit patron
records.

Edit example:
[Search for a patron by name] Enter Name [Search] Highlight patron
[Retrieve Patron] [Edit] Screen does not populate to allow editing of
any field.

Ditto Register Patron:
[Register Patron] Screen does not populate to allow editing of any field.

Is this a bug? If not can someone tell us what we are doing wrong?
Don

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Updating subject headings per LC announcements

2014-11-05 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Evergreen folks,

Does anyone out there update subject headings in your local catalog when
the LC announces their updates? I'm playing with the idea of starting to
do it semi-regularly, and would at least like to clean up some of the major
recently changed subject headings. For example, LC changed the heading
cookery to cooking back in 2010, and of course, half of our materials
are listed under the old heading, and half are listed under the new.

Has anybody else done this kind of work in their Evergreen catalogs? If
so, would you mind sharing your workflows? It seems like the MARC Batch
Edit feature in record buckets might be helpful, but I would love to hear
your advice, experiences, or words of caution.

Thanks for your help!

-Jane
