Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Bug Squashing Day

2015-02-26 Thread Kathy Lussier

Hi all,

It looks like most people will be here, so let's move forward with Bug
Squashing Day on Monday.

If you need to Sandbox to test a bug fix, I'm asking people to submit
the request by the end of the day today. I know it doesn't give you much
time to look through the bugs, but the Sandbox administrators need time
to load the branches ahead of Bug Squashing Day.

With that in mind, please submit any Sandbox requests at
http://goo.gl/forms/boKucpwnpz. The list of bugs with pullrequest tags
is available at http://bit.ly/1lhUabq.

Hi all,

Ack!

I closed the Doodle poll last month and set this Monday, March 2 as the date
for our next Bug Squashing Day. However, it looks like I failed to communicate
the date with the rest of the community beyond adding it to the community
calendar.

I would still like to see if we can get a group together to work on bugs on
March 2. Does that day still work for everyone who responded to the poll?

Thanks and apologies for the oversight! I'm blaming it on the snow.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] 2.8 beta pending security releases

2015-02-26 Thread Bill Erickson
Hi All,

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that the 2.8 beta release will be cut
after a batch of security releases are cut. 2.8 will contain the fixes, so
I'd like to wait until the usual security announcements are wrapped up
before publishing the code.

We hope to have the new versions cut shortly. We'll keep you posted.

Thanks,

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Due date conundrum - time due is weird

2015-02-26 Thread Walz, Jennifer
All –

I have a conundrum with our due date / times. When we currently check out
an item to a student, it give them the normal three week due DATE, but adds a
time which is 7:59pm.Where is it getting the time from?? We are open
until 11:59 each day of the week (m-f) and a due TIME of 7:59 is really odd. I
have checked our Org hours and they are set correctly for our branch. Our due
dates are set for the circ rules for 21 days. WHERE is it getting the TIME
from??

If someone can enlighten me about some setting that I have missed, I would be
very grateful. Currently when students turn in an item on the day it was due
but AFTER the time it was due, they are charged a fine. We would like to fix
that!

Thanks!

Jennifer,

Evergreen pushes the due time to 11:59pm on transactions that have
day-granular circ durations. So, it sounds like you've got a timezone
mismatch somewhere. Likely, your database server (or the database
iteself), or the app server if separate, thinks it lives in UTC instead
your correct timezone.

2015-02-26 Thread Rogan Hamby
Happens all the time in various ways Jennifer. Once upon a time (last
week) I spent about five minutes scratching my head as to why my reports
were an hour off before I realized that my laptop for some reason was in
the wrong time zone and when I copied and pasted from SQL into Excel Excel
was kindly adjusting the times for me. Recording time zone information
along with time stamps may seem excessive but I wouldn't be surprised to
find consortiums (maybe in Canada?) that cross time zones and find it
necessary.

I still have no idea how my laptop ended up in that time zone
