*Interview mode: Phone than SkypeJob Description: *This individual as part of the Market Data group will be responsible for developing new applications, support of applications written in Progress Software in a wintel platform. This role will require good analytical skills in assisting with issues that arise to quickly assess, explain to business users and resolve in a timely manner. This individual will look for ways to improve the Market Data systems by developing technical solutions. This will relate to improving the quality of data by improving the vendor data feed load process or providing new vendor data feed loads, improving the performance of these loads or improving the distribution of this data to downstream consumers of this data. *II. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONS:* This position reports into the Development Manager of the Market Data systems group which develops and supports systems used to process and distribute security master, price, and corporate action data used by all of the downstream client fund administration, brokerage, and custody platforms worldwide. *III. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES*: • Developing enhancements to the system as needed. This may include major initiatives and/or minor upgrades/fixes. • Day to day support of programs/processes written in Progress Software in a wintel environment. • Day to day support of programs/processes used by the application to interface with vendor and downstream systems including FTP, autosys, SCP, SVN, Citrix, windows server utilities and administration. • Effective determination of any problems and be responsible for problem resolution working with the necessary teams within the client’s IT. • Documenting enhancements such that other team members, business analysis, etc can understand and support the product. *IV. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:* • 2–4 years experience in *Progress Software*. • Experience on the wintel platform and associated utilities. • Experience in Oracle and Sybase is a plus. • Experience in using version management tools CVS, SVN. • Previous experience with Java, UNIX is a plus. • Familiarity with Autosys job management system. • Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or similar discipline, or the equivalent education and experience. • Familiarity with database design concepts. • Expertise in full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). • Team player with strong organizational and project management skills. • Must be detail oriented and possess strong analytical skills. • Exceptional communications (written and verbal) skills are required. • Experience in financial services and market data systems is a plus. • Experience with market data vendors is a plus. • Must be able to meet deadlines and changing priorities. • Must be able to work in high-pressured environment, sometimes independently and sometimes as part of a project team. • Flexibility in work schedule according to project and business needs. May require additional hours both at home and within work environment during non-business hours. • Person will be flexible in adapting to new technologies to match business and IT management objectives.
