The fiscal accountability and management of DOT’s diverse activities is extremely complex and requires a robust business system that will provide meaningful, accurate, and timely information for the various needs of public/private end users, the Federal and State government and departmental and administrative requirements. The complexity of these businesses requires an expertly managed and staffed support team. This support team is responsible for ensuring the users of these systems can competently perform their jobs and have reached their full potential as it relates to the use of the various ERP applications. This requires a skilled and dedicated team to ensure the on-going operations are not adversely impacted while implementing and integrating new applications in a cost efficient and appropriate manner. • Primary responsibilities include SAP Basis administration and support, technical support, transport management, batch management and production support for SAP environment. • Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting and refresh to ensure stability, security, recoverability of the SAP and related systems. • Management of SAP in FDA regulated and Sarbanes-Oxley controlled environment. Perform root-cause-analysis, as well as performance management and optimization of SAP Systems. • Proactively analyze SAP environment to detect deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. • Develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to information systems. Maintain technical infrastructure reference documents such as technical architecture, interface references, hardware and software assets. • Experience with developing SAP data archive solution using Open Text; Ability to analyze problems, troubleshooting and resolving Open Text related issues. The program consists of System Integration, System Support, and Hosting. This position will provide SAP basis administration for the Medtronic SAP architecture to ensure highly available architecture and optimized performance of a single global instance supporting a multi billion dollar company. Position Responsibilities - Oversee and administer transport process/operational change management - Monitor table space growth, estimate growth and sizing requirements, Implement changes to support growth - Monitor and make recommendations to improve SAP performance - Perform SAP Basis administration including performance tuning - Work with developer, UNIX and functional representatives to solve SAP Basis issues - Assist in the installation and upgrade of SAP systems - Monitor SAP environment and assist in troubleshooting - Monitor SAP performance and tune appropriately - Work with vendors to resolve SAP problems - Assist in the evaluation of SAP upgrades and other related products - Install software patches and new releases of SAP software - Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation - Configure and maintain system environment modes profiles - Participate in the System Performance tuning and make recommendations - Define and maintain standard operating procedures specifically focused on SAP - Provide change control of SAP database objects from development to test production environments - Work closely with DBA, Application, and UNIX for installation, upgrades, troubleshooting on SAP systems - Administer system schedules (Backups, downtime, client copies, upgrades,...) - Administer processing upgrade records, lock records and ABAP/4 short dumps - Provide SAP and database technical support to functional areas, configurators, developers - Support interfaces to non-R/3 systems and to 3rd party tools used in R/3 and BW environments - Research and evaluate database functionality and recommend how it could be applied - Interact with development and configuration personnel as well as DB2 DBA**s, AIX UNIX administrators, security and other support teams.
