*Location: Etters, PA (11 miles from Harrisburg, PA)*

*$80-85/hr *



On-site work – hours must be flexible. Most of their system time is 5-7am
week days and early Sunday mornings 2-5am.

Interview process: Phone interview with Manager of Network Engineering,
followed by more extensive interview by other team members.

Contractor will be working on existing back log of projects.

Job Description:

*SUMMARY*

The primary purpose of this position is to consult on the design,
implementation, and support of major telecommunications voice, data, and
video networks, platforms, and bridges for a multi-platform, distributed
environment. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is
also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with
corporate policies and state and federal laws.

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other
duties as assigned:

   - Act as network team leader, mentor, and coach and direct creativity
   toward effective implementation of technology-related solutions.
   - Prepare and deliver presentations to large or critical technical
   groups and other business associates; participate in appropriate user
   groups; communicate with clients on technical recommendations, outcomes,
   and benefits
   - Direct the development and update of network architecture platforms;
   devise standards for telecommunications technologies and services.
   - Design, evaluate, select, implement, and support major data networks;
   address the evolution and application of data network technologies.
   - Participate in setting company standards for local area networks
   (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs); keep abreast of LAN/WAN industry
   trends and vendor products and services.
   - Design, evaluate, select, implement and support major WANs; address
   the evolution and application of WAN technologies and services.
   - Monitor and consult on network performance, capacity, and reliability;
   research up-and-coming network management tools and techniques.
   - Evaluate, select, design, and implement of major geographically
   dispersed telecommunication networks; complete comparative analyses
   regarding Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, existing software
   platforms, and emerging telecommunications technologies.
   - Evaluate new vendors, products, and connectivity issues and recommend
   equipment alternatives for multi-platform, multi-vendor environments.
   - Complete comparative product analyses and participate in defining the
   product/service evaluation process and selection criteria.
   - Design implementation strategies for wire and wireless systems and
   monitor new technologies, service providers, and regulatory issues.
   - Research, design and develop complex remote computing solutions.
   - Design and implement capacity planning processes and alternative
   hardware and software configurations for technical and user functions;
   forecast capacity requirements and recommends platform changes
   - Define and/or refine contingency and disaster recovery strategies,
   testing, and documentation.
   - Design network infrastructure and perform all fascists of network
   administration function to compile network security requirements
   referencing PCI, HIPAA and SOX.
   - Lead projects, develop plans, tasks and bring people together to
   accomplish goals and objectives.

–         TCP/IP, RIP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11x, WPA/WPA2 protocols.

–         Provision terrestrial services for broadband services (Frame
relay, MPLS, DSL.)

–         Cisco IOS and security bundle for configurations.

–         Cisco routers, firewalls, switches and wireless access points.

–         VPN implementations utilize Cisco and Nortel equipment.

–         Network management tools, AirMagnet, Orion and OPSWARE software.

–         LAN and wireless network administration.

–         VSAT technology.

–         Best practices for quality assurance in network testing.

–         Sniffer packet captures and trace analysis.

–         Network capacity planning.

–         Cat 5 cable plant and ability to perform cross connects, etc.

   - Typing speed of 40 WPM.
   - Proficiency with the Microsoft® Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
   and Access).

*Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations*

This position requires the following:

   - Valid driver's license for frequent daytime travel between various
   Rite Aid facilities.
   - Cisco Certification or equivalent experience (IE:CCNP, CISSP, CCIE)

Education:

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, plus ten (10) years'
experience in designing large LANs/WANs and working with TCP, UDP, IP, IPX,
SNA, X.3, X.25, token ring, Ethernet, routers, switches, and VSAT,
exhibited knowledge and expertise in capacity planning and network security
with a minimum of at least three (3) years’ experience in a project manager
or team leader role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
