** Title: Systems Engineer Client Domain Financial/Bank Duration 6 Months Location NC Rate: $ daily Rate Only Mission: Engineer, integrate and provide an resource monitoring solution for all divisions and locations Role Overview: - Engineer, integrate and package vendor products into build and application platforms - Responsible for a stable and reliable monitoring infrastructure design and software component of all data centres located in Switzerland, UK, US and Singapore - Requirements engineering for resource monitoring solutions for builds and platforms of the firm Engineering - Troubleshooting and administration of BMC Performance Manager (BPM) solutions on Unix/Linux and Windows - Design and implementation of monitoring solutions based on BPM - Development of technical concepts for monitoring solutions - Specification and implementation of interfaces to other systems management solutions (e.g. BMC Event Manager) - Installation and configuration of BPM agents and infrastructure components - Life cycle management for all BPM solutions Operation - Perform 3rd level support for IT Resource Monitoring Solution integration - Acceptance tests and hand over to production in co-operation with engineering - Provide support documentations and checklists On call duty and shift work on demand. Educational and professional qualifications: • University degree in computer science, electrical engineering or similar • English language (Advanced level / oral and written) • Minimum 4+ years experience in developing and supporting scripting solutions on UNIX and Windows platforms Development and support skills: • Certification or expertise on Solaris/Linux and/or Windows • Expertise in Shell scripting (e.g. Perl) Engineering and/or support experience with the following products: • BMC Performance Manager • Sybase • MS SQL Server • Experience in Systems Engineering • Software packaging • Weblogic, IIS or MQ Specific career development / growth opportunities associated with this position. -1-2 years: possibility to take the overall responsibility for deliverables towards builds and platforms -After 5 years: possibility to develop the Service Monitoring strategy as lead engineer The team has recently driven the implementation of a firm-wide resource monitoring solution that has been rolled out globally in all IT divisions on all strategic platforms.
