Role : SOA Architect
Location : LA,CA
Duration : Long term
Responsibilities:
· Partner with business stakeholders to review and understand business
requirements.
· Translate business requirements into technical specifications such
as functions specification, system specification, architecture and design
· Document and review technical specifications with cross-functional
teams
· Proactively identify and suggest architectural improvements in as-is
Systems
· Domain Research: Research various areas of media distribution such
as streaming, satellite based delivery, content ingestion, processing and user
experience. Be a subject matter expert in the assigned functional domain
· Research emerging trends and technologies, Technology Roadmap and
Technology Blueprint
· Security Governance and Approval: Ability to work with Security and
Governance board, experience in cloud security is a plus
· White Paper: Ability to author white papers similar to those
available
from Gartner. The content of a white paper shall provide useful information
for business stakeholders and executives seeking to understand an issue, solve
a problem, or make a decision.
· Best Practices: recommending best practices for application
architects,
development and test teams
· Processes and Tools: Methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Open source
tools and technologies those are currently popular.
· POC: Building proof of concepts and preparation of Build vs. Buy
decision matrix
· Vendor Selection/Management: Participate in commercial-off-the-shelf
product evaluation and selection
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems
or related field), Master's degree preferred
· 10+ years relevant experience with at least 5+ years as an Architect
in a fast paced environment required
· Leadership qualities, including ability to facilitate technical
discussions
with diverse and cross-functional groups, time management, organizational and
negotiation skills
· Demonstrated success in working effectively with Program Management,
cross-functional teams and senior management
· Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with customers
/ clients
· Must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a
big-picture
vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality
· Must possess a drive for excellence and a get-it-done attitude while
being mindful of existing organizational knowledge and platforms
· Experience in Business Systems Analysis, Requirements Elaboration,
high-level architecture and detailed designs
· Ability to translate complex business strategies and needs into
Organization's
(Engineering) strategic priorities that leverage industry trends and emerging
technologies while integrating existing enterprise architectures, platforms
and data
· Ability to consolidate complex existing Engineering environmental
descriptions into an existing Enterprise Architecture for a current state
architecture
and the development of an ongoing future state Enterprise Architecture
· Experience with distributed media applications, video-on-demand and
broadcast systems
· Self-motivated with the ability to make solid technical / business
decisions with minimal managerial direction.
· Ability to use models and architectural frameworks to identify
relationships
between business objectives, processes and technology capabilities
· Ability to integrate Enterprise Architecture processes with other
planning and operational processes
· Service Lifecycle Management: Strategy, Design, Transition,
Operations,
Continual Service Improvement
· Ability to develop and deliver roadmaps that enhance operational
efficiency and provide visionary guidance for business and technology portfolios
· Business and Technology Consulting
· Understanding of software development methodologies and structured
approaches to system development is required
· Experience in open source technologies, open source recommendation
engine or Digitalsmiths is a plus
· Experience in developing scalable Service Oriented Architecture
(SOA) based web services
· Experience in web services integration with platforms like web,
mobile
(smart phones, tablets), Set top box is a plus
· Experience working in a large corporate environment
