In general, we aim to track new Red Hat kernels across Fedora 5-9,
and RHEL 4 and 5. There are a number of human factors that may
interfere with the timeliness of this. Not least of which is the fact
that we need to wait for CentOs to rebuild the relevant RedHat kernel
SRPM, as we don't have RHEL licenses for the build machine. Those
CentOs RPMs only appeared last night, and the corresponding OpenAFS
builds have just completed. Once someone has time to upload them,
those RPMs will be available from the website.

Cheers,

Simon.

The kernel module doesn't load:

And the last two dmesg lines:

[ 7199.304687] cx3110x: WARNING prism_softmac_frame_tx_done() returned an
empty frame.
[ 7309.476562] DSP Pausing failed, skipping OP change!

And when starting afsd I'm getting:

Your benefit back is the continual improvement and debugging of
OpenAFS. You should have already contracted with either Secure Endpoints

http://www.sinenomine.net/openafs/ for a maintenance contract. We have
one, and it has served us well. Since OpenAFS is essentially free, the
maintenance contract is more of a consulting contract really, but it
serves the same function. Talk to Jeffrey Altman about these arrangments
at the workshop, or call him directly. I'm sure he would be happy to work
with you.

If you care about whether OpenAFS sees a future or not, then you NEED to do
this.

[OpenAFS] Getting Tickets but not Tokens

I am able to get an krb5 ticket for afs, but for some strange reason
aklog won't get a token for me.

I use heimdal on FreeBSD 6.3 and openafs 1.2.8 on Redhat 8. I am not
running a kaserver.

afsd seems to be running fine.

The error indicates a Kerberos problem, not an AFS problem.

Where did you get aklog from? openafs 1.2.8 does not have an aklog
binary and I suspect your aklog is trying to contact a krb524d process
on the KDC (runs on port udp) and is probably failing thus
rendering you unable to obtain tokens.

Either upgrade to a newer openafs version or obtain an aklog that has
native Kerberos 5 support and does not need a krb524d service running.
(You could also enable krb524d on the KDC, but I would not suggest
that.)

Now it's all coming back to me.

I don't normally use the Linux client. Normally I use the Windows
client. As such, I had some latent breakage on my network that I only
now discovered. Once upon a time I was switching over to use krb5
rather than the kaserver. I think I swiped an aklog from some site that
was providing help/instruction during the big switch to krb5. Time
passed and I switched from MIT KDCs to Heimdal KDCs and in the process I
quit running krb524d.

That you recalled that 1.2.8 didn't have aklog is impressive. I want
you on my OpenAFS bar trivia team.

Thanks a bunch!

OK, so it's still broken?

Are you using an N800 or N810? If you're using an N800, have you flashed

hmmm,

your kernel exactly matches the packaged module and your OS version
matches mine, so that looks good.
