[OpenAFS] Kerberos for Windows library krb5_32.dll is not available.

2012-02-23 Thread Anders Magnusson

Hi,

since 1.7.1 something has happened that causes aklog to complain.

Environment:

Windows 7 x64 Enterprise

OpenAFS 1.7.6

MIT Kerberos for Windows (64-bit) 3.2.2

C:\Users\kex>aklog

Kerberos for Windows library krb5_32.dll is not available.

It did work in 1.7.1.

Is this due to something we missed to fix or something else?

2012-02-23 Thread Michael Richter
On our 64-bit workstations (Windows 7 Business) it is there. If you
expect a krb5_64.dll: It does not exist. Both, the KfW 32 and 64 bit
version does have krb5_32.dll.

The aklog following 1.7.1 works with the same KfW.

This is a problem on >376 machines where we recently upgraded.

We use a simple modification of this file:
->
http://www.secure-endpoints.com/binaries/mit-kfw-3-2-2/kfw-amd64-3-2-2.msi

And got this:

C:\Program Files\MIT\Kerberos\bin>dir krb5*.dll
Volume in Laufwerk C: hat keine Bezeichnung.
 Volumeseriennummer: 8A2F-020F

 Verzeichnis von C:\Program Files\MIT\Kerberos\bin

07.05.2010 13:53 634.880 krb5_32.dll

But if I search the MSI content I can not find the *32.dll... don't know O.o

Perhaps you need to install the 32-bit version too, like described here:

Why are the path this way?
We found that ugrading the afs klient (with msiexec /i newversion.msi /q

ugraded after the 64-bit client. Running the installation in the other order

The PATH is a result of the order of installation.
What is the failure that you are receiving during the install of the
32-bit tools?

Note that one of the benefits of the Heimdal package is that it includes
both 64-bit and 32-bit components in the same installation.

The OpenAFS installation requires a substantial rewrite to turn
libraries into assemblies and perform 64-bit and 32-bit installation
from the same MSI.

The 32-bit tools are not upgraded. I have however not tried this in a while.
Maybe with 1.7.2 or so.

The reason to include the regfile at the end is that I also found the a new
larger cache size are not used from the mst file then upgrading but the current
one is used. For installation on a computer with no previous afs client the
cache size is used though. Might be that my mst file is not working as expected.

Our upgrade script:

::Install 32-bit tools för 32-bit compatibility
msiexec /q /i "%~dp0openafs-32bit-tools-en_US-1-7-0600.msi"
TRANSFORMS="%~dp01.7_32bit_tools.mst" /norestart

::Install 64-bit client
msiexec /q /i "%~dp0openafs-en_US-64bit-1-7-0600.msi"
TRANSFORMS="%~dp01.7.3_64bit.mst" /norestart

::If upgrading ensure that LTU settings are applied
regedit /s "%~dp0AFS_settings_64-bit.reg"

The 32-bit tools not being upgraded is not the failure. That is the
result of a failure. What is the failure?

32-bit tools does not have a cache size to set. Or perhaps I am

SV: [OpenAFS] Kerberos for Windows library krb5_32.dll is not available.

2012-02-24 Thread Anders Nordin
Another Anders here,

Ok something in the path seems to have changed some version(s) ago. This error
seems to be because the x86 is before the 64-bit version in the path?

If i manually choose to run the 64-bit aklog it works.

C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenAFS\Client\Program>aklog
Kerberos for Windows library krb5_32.dll is not available.

C:\Program Files\OpenAFS\Client\Program>aklog -
Usage: aklog [-d] [[-cell | -c] cell [-k krb_realm]] [[-p | -path] pathname]
[-noprdb] [-force]
[-5] (etc..)

Earlier i tried to uninstall 1.7.6, and reinstall 1.7.1 and then it worked out
of the box, my guess is because the path is the other way around (64-bit first,
and 32-bit second).

SV: SV: [OpenAFS] Kerberos for Windows library krb5_32.dll is not available.

2012-02-24 Thread Anders Nordin
Yes you are correct. I checked our installscript for 1.7.1 and that installs
64-bit first and 32-bit tools afterwards, which explains why it works.

The reason why we switched around was because one of our upgrade (can't
remember which) didn't work with running 64-bit first and 32-bit tools later,
it only upgraded 64-bit but not 32-bit tools. No error, it just didn't get
upgraded. If we switched them around it worked right away and we kept it that
way ever since.

Anyway, we now got an explanation of the problem that we seem to have caused
ourselves..

There are no changes between 1.7.1 and 1.7.6 to the installer scripts.

As I asked before, what was the error?

Use the msiexec log to tell you.
