[opendx-dev] Release 4.1.2?
What are the plans for cutting a new release of OpenDX? I'd like to update the FreeBSD port to build a more current version release of the source, but the 4.1.0 tarball (from April last year) is the latest up on opendx.org and research.ibm.com. Also, the 4.1.1 version label on the IRIX, Linux, and Win 95/NT binary distributions is a little puzzling. Was this officially released? Randy -- Randall Hopper [EMAIL PROTECTED]

OK, I'm working on it today. Greg Suhaib M. I've cut the tarball and the patch file and given them to Bill; he'll post them on the IBM webpage. I made one small final change that will affect only SMP linux boxes. I built and tested it on linux - though not extensively, and even checked that the patch file applied smoothly to 4.0.10. Many thanks to all involved. So now what? Do we open wide the CVS floodgates? I think I'd rather give it a couple days in the hopes that various people will roll binaries as one final check. OK? I think it would be helpful if you get time and check Windows patches. It would give us a chance to stabilize binaries for Windows too. I will have Linux binaries ready in a couple of days. As Rick mentioned, you could always retrieve 4.1.0 in case patches mess up all the other major platforms. Suhaib Greg

Re: [opendx-dev] Release?
I'm sorry, I've been really busy lately. I guess we are all on board, I'll start the process now. This'll include updating the version number and marking the source tree. Then I'll build a tarball. Don't know if I can finish this afternoon, off to sunny Miami this evening and back Tuesday night. Am I forgetting anything? Greg

After return from Sunny Miami, if possible MSVC patches gets checked in CVS? We need a stable Windows release in future for DX users. After Linux Windows seems to be a major platform for DX users. BTW, the DX migration version with April 2001 license does not Work on Win2K. All the executables does a coredump. There seems to be msvc dlls incompability problems. Greg
Re: [opendx-dev] release status
I believe that you are correct. People seem to be working with it now. The Lesstif guys have released there version already (0.89.9) as of a few days ago. I would be willing to work on the Solaris Readme and LinuxPPC Readme. I could also do the AIX readme, but that would probably best be written by an IBM person. If thats the case, I think that we're waiting for: Updates to the Readmes Pete's fixes to the sample makefiles and the module builder code that creates makefiles Some definitive word from the Lesstif community regarding their next release. Any other points? Other checkins should be on hold in the meantime unless they are directly relevant to bugs found in 4.0.10, and then not without discussion. Anybody want to volunteer to do a platform Readme? Here I'm meaning the Readmes relevant to building the source as opposed to installing binaries. Greg
Re: [opendx-dev] release status
Greg, Would this just be sections in the current README (top level)? I just looked at some of the README_platform, and I wouldn't want to change any of that--its more about running dx and platform system administration. The main README could really be worked over since we have removed alot of the problems mentioned in it.
