Hello Eric,

There is a good opensource solution BI called SpagoBI. The URL is
http://www.spagobi.org/#0

It has beautiful intuitive UI. and It can fetch details from multiple Data
Sources. We are using for one of our clients. He is quite happy with it.

Re: [Openerp-community] Partner firstname

2014-01-22 Thread Nicolas Bessi
Hello,

One point I did not mention in my previous mail, the real problem when
adding new "extre" fields is to manage write value on the base "name"
fields.

That quite a complicated exercise because you if you want to do it flexible
you have to put a parsing system along it.

Maybe a conclusion is that we may not add new extra fields but add an
advance and configurable search on name.

Hi Eric,

If you're looking for a simple and dynamic solution, an easy one is Saiku :
http://meteorite.bi/saiku

For what I did with, I was very satisfy. Now, it's a simple one and doesn't
provide all features you found in Pentaho or others. It's design to see and
play with data, but I find it very well done.

Re: [Openerp-community] Partner firstname

2014-01-22 Thread Nicolas Bessi
Hello,

Partner_firstname is quite a simple module that probably do not match
complex/real international needs.
But I think the approach he uses is correct/sustainable. That means having
the final formatted value in the name field depending on any rules and new
fields.

The name fields is used everywhere from report to wizard etc. Adding a new
field with formatted label will means to add a lot of modification here and
there to use this value or find a sophisticated hack.

What are currently the technical solutions available for OpenERP to be able
to generate cubes for Business Intelligence?

I need to prepare a panel of solutions for one of my customers and would
like to know:
- Tools and vendors involved
- Difficulty to integrate withh OpenERP7 current data model
- Price range if relevant.

NB:
I am not really looking for static reporting tools but more for dynamic
data builders (equivalent to Cognos or Crystal Report).
It doesnot need to be opensource and Google is not an option as google.doc
is not available in China.

Looking forward to reading you

My comments:
- The order firstname, lastname is culture dependant. It
should be somehow configurable (Per database?, Per company?,
Per user?)
- In cases where you read a full name (for
example on a .csv import), the rule to convert from full
name to firstname, lastname should be explicit and
  eventually configurable (e.g. ",
  ")
- All conversions should take into account double
lastnames, very common in Latin America (two words
  separated by spaces)

I think we have few problems in regards to partner_firstname :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/partner-contact-management

As I am not convinced on the current implementation, I have started a blueprint
to discuss the options and decide on a solution :
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/partner-contact-management/+spec/partner-firstname

Feel free to join.

Re: [Openerp-community] Product Label Report

2014-01-22 Thread Peter Langenberg
Sebastien,

Niels has made a very nice module for printing labels that is very generic
... It even allows printing of labels after collecting them in a queue so
you can ensure that you use the full page of a labelsheet.

See module label_print_stock for a module that implements a
sheet/template and how to implement easy access from chosen models.

bzr+ssh://bazaar.launchpad.net/+branch/agaplan-addons/7.0

label_print
label_print_stock

It doesn't only work for stock_labels, but also for price labels and so on
...

We can always make it available as ocb module.

Re: [Openerp-community] Product Label Report

2014-01-22 Thread fperezegana
It would be great to have a version that prints the labels directly from
picking or incoming shipments. This is if I am receiving 3 items A and 2 items
B to be able to print all 5 labels in one report.

I tried to do that but I guess that I just have a lot to learn yet.

You should debug inside of domain_get method of ir.rule model to know wish
rules get applied always check for the model_name that you want to debug

Re: [Openerp-community] Product Label Report

2014-01-22 Thread Raphael Valyi
Hello Seb,

what about backporting the QWeb v8 version of it?
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~openerp-dev/openobject-addons/trunk-qweb-report/view/head:/product/views/product_label.xml
just changing the language from qweb to mako should make the next migration
straightforward, at least it's HTML + webkit already instead of rml.

Eventually if the qweb version isn't cool, may be report it to OpenERP as a
bug and see what they do. And we could diverge if they do nothing.

Anyway, just a proposal...

Re: [Openerp-community] Partner firstname

2014-01-22 Thread Gustavo Adrian Marino
My comments:
- The order firstname, lastname is culture dependant. It should be somehow
configurable (Per database?, Per company?, Per user?)
- In cases where you read a full name (for example on a .csv import), the
rule to convert from full name to firstname, lastname should be explicit
and eventually configurable (e.g. ", ")
- All conversions should take into account double lastnames, very common in
Latin America (two words separated by spaces)

[Openerp-community] How to debug Record Rules?

2014-01-22 Thread Daniel Reis

I need to ask for some advice on this:

I have some custom record access rule, and have found some cases where the
users are having unwanted access denied errors.
My problem is that it's hard to trace how the record rules end up being
mixed together and figuring out what's wrong.

Currently, I have to debug into the ORM, and often end up checking long
ORM-generated SQL sentences, but it's very time consuming.
I'm hoping someone knows a better technique to sort this out.

 Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all of the feedback.

Processes are identical between companies, products are ALWAYS
different (never shared between companies).

I think, based on what I have read, that it will work well -- we
just need to leave room to test and make sure everything happens
as we expect.

Users (and us as the developers and implementers!) are happy that
there will be a requirement to log into and out of each company
as a user moves from working with one to working with another (but
we will need a shortcut to that dropdown on the main menu bar).

Ray.

Hi there,

OpenERP works well in multi-company as long as you make the proper
choices and configuration. Processes and products is the worst.
You can use for all product prices problematic the module
product_price_history (https://launchpad.net/margin-analysis)
which solve many trouble (like having a different standard_price
per company). It is also not easy is to integrate document sync
between companies of a single DB. A part from that, keep a lot's
of time for testing, cause it really come hard if the process of
the different companies aren't the same !!

Those was my little though here.

Regards,

Joël

Hi,
We tried the same but this is not enough as many reports (based on
SQL) relies on field standard_price.

Didnot test yet v8...

Yes, it is true.

I ran on my side and only 2 sql reports will be broken (I don't
remember what) but only 2.

I did a little module wish redisign those report from the customer
PoV (a job of no more than 2 or 3 days quite easy).

REgards.

[Openerp-community] export data into csv using python script.

2014-01-22 Thread shazz0020
Hello

I have seen importing data from csv file into OpenERP.
But is their python script which allows me to export existing openerp data
into csv file or in plain format?

Thanks

Re: [Openerp-community] [Bug 1087033] Re: Inventory lines should be sorted on screen and print documents

Thank you for the link Ferdinand.
I couldn't test the printing of inventories on the new WMS yet but we should
file a separate but report for that if it still needed in v8.

the "unsorted" o2m fields are a major and long term (2008) outstanding
problem.

https://blueprints.launchpad.net/openobject-server/+spec/sorted-output
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/openobject-server/+spec/sorted-lists
https://developer.gnome.org/hig-book/stable/controls-lists.html.en#controls-lists-sortable

users are only capable to "sort" (find) data in short lists (up to 3-10
records)

everything else must be sorted using a user friendly key.

that's why we have created
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~camptocamp/c2c-rd-addons/7.0/files/head:/one2many_sorted/
and implemented it throughout c2c-rd-addons

I also want to emphasize that the _order clause in the class
specification is NOT sufficient if

* the resource has multiple "natural" keys
 or
* if the resource has to be (NLS) sorted using a foreign key only
reachable via (multiple) m2o fields.

using sequences is a valid option, but usually needs user interaction to
define the sequence order and is often not necessary if a natural key is
used as default.

Variant of field type one2many for sorted associations

Usage:

| import one2many_sorted
| ...
|_columns =\
|{ 'partner_ids' : one2many_sorted.one2many_sorted
|( 'res.partner'
|, 'parent_id'
|, 'Sorted Partner List'
|, order='name.upper(), title'
|, search=[('is_company', '=', 'False')]
|, set={'is_company' : False}
|)
|}
| ...

In the example above, the primary sort criteria is "name" (not case-sensitive), the
secondary is "title".
Only partners that are physical persons (not is_company) are selected - and
only those can be added.

Another possibility is to define a text-property with naming convention
"..order"
(in the example above this would be "res.partner.parent_id.order").
The value of this property is the sort criteria.

The advantage of properties is, that they can by company-individual.

A third possibility is to hand over a "context" key named
"one2many_sorted_order" that contains the name of a property.

If no "context" key is found, then the property with the naming convention is
taken.
If no property is defined, the programmed sort order is taken.
Otherwise no sorting takes place.

many2many_sorted has a similar syntax but without search feature.

Note that it works on translated term, not only the text stored in the DB !
