sound on e680
Hello, I'm using angstrom x11 image and a kernel 2.6.21-4 ezx on a e680. The e680 has not been flashed and I boot with boot_usb. I cannot get the sound working : in dmesg I can see : 6ASoC version 0.13.0 6pcap2-codec: PCAP2 Audio Codec 0.1 6asoc: PCAP2 STEREO - pxa2xx-ssp3 mapping ok 6asoc: PCAP2 MONO - pxa2xx-ssp3 mapping ok 6asoc: PCAP2 BP - Baseband mapping ok 6ALSA device list: 6 #0: Motorola EZX (PCAP2 Audio) But when I try to play a mp3 file with mplayer I get : [AO OSS] audio_setup: Can't open audio device /dev/dsp: No such file or directory [AO OSS] audio_setup: Can't open audio device /dev/dsp: No such file or directory and mplayer do as if it was playing the file. Is it normal ? do I need to use the e680 not in bp flash mode ? Thanks, Alain
Re: sound on e680
Hello, Thanks for the quick answer. I cannot get the sound working : The ASoC driver is incomplete for E680. Currently you will only get sound if you route it to the earpiece. (loudspeaker and headset will not work). How can I route it to the earpiece ? with alsaconf ? Is it normal ? do I need to use the e680 not in bp flash mode ? No. Via boot_usb it should work too. So I will retry. What would be the method for making the loudspeaker work ? (If it is too long to answer this, forget my question). Sincerely, Alain

Sorry, you will also need to load oss-emulation for mplayer as koen pointed to me on IRC. koen WM: the post on the mailinglist showed that he didn't have oss emulation loaded koen even if the e680 had working sound it wouldn't have worked without loading snd-pcm-oss.ko What i said applies too, you will only get audio via the builtin earpiece. With snd-pcm-oss, I have /dev/dsp now. (I will search why it is automatically loaded on my laptop but not on the e680). So mplayer does not complain. But I still hear nothing. (alsaconf is not yet build) Thanks, Alain
