The site currently has options for "public domain" and "open font
license," and I recommend using the OFL for any fonts you have made
:-)

The fonts that are not allowed are those that are not commercially
modifiable or redistributable. The following definitions explain what
the free culture movement means by "free software" or "free culture":

http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html

For fonts with a license other than PD or OFL, make sure to explain
the precise terms of the license in the font description :-)

I'm not sure about this; if the OFLB is to showcase the best free
software fonts, I think it ought to accept anything with a free
software license; we ought to recommend OFL, but not require it.

The site currently isn't set up for anything else, but people just
upload fonts and write a notice in the description detailing the
license. Given the site is going to get revamped soon this is fine :-)

(PD is problematic and going to be replaced by CC-0 soon too.)

[Openfontlibrary] Font submissions

2008-09-21 Thread John
Good Day All

I need clarification on what fonts can be uploaded to the library. My personal
collection is rather large and I'm sure that I can contribute but need to know
what, other than copyrighted (commercial) or restricted licencing fonts, are
not allowed.
