That worked. It created an xorg.conf.new in the /root/ directory. I was able to "nano xorg.conf.new" and view it. It was well filled out. I then went to reboot, but X isn't coming back up. [OpenIndiana-discuss] Keyboard options
Under Keyboard, Layouts, Options..., Miscellaneous compatibility options, one options is "Shift with numeric keypad works as in MS Windows". In Linux, it works as in MS Windows. In OI, I get it mostly working, but shift+numpad keys insert the number with numlock:off, and with numlock:on it does the action it should (does the shift+home, shift+end, etc). Is there a way to alter this behavior? I want the shift+numpad keys to always do their shift+ Home, End, PgUp, Pgdn, and arrows action as they do with numlock:on, but all the time. Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] Multiple monitor support
There isn't an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file already. And OI comes up and displays just fine, but only on one monitor. If I try to use both it gives me an error that my virtual size is too small (1920x1200, needs to be 3600x1200). The fixes online I've seen say it needs a line added to xorg.conf setting the larger virtual size. Sounds good... but, since I don't have an xorg.conf already... what do I do to have it create one that's correct so I can alter it? I installed x-server utilities and I see xrandr is there, along with several others. Can I use some sequence to get it to generate a valid xorg.conf file? I realize this is more of an X question than OpenIndiana. So, I don't mind going somewhere else if need be. I've never had good luck with X unless it just worked out of the box, which is mostly has. :-) Best regards, Rick C. Xorg doesn't need configuration file to work, by default. If you create the file in /etc/X11/ it will overwrite default settings.. 2015-09-09 14:01 GMT+02:00 Rick C.
