Hi.
Yes, this is still true. You can compare
http://dlc.openindiana.org/dlc.sun.com/osol/on/downloads/20100817/on-closed-bins-nd.i386.tar.bz2
contents and exception list in
https://github.com/illumos/illumos-gate/blob/master/exception_lists/closed-bins
. All files which are not in exception lists are likely still required.

[OpenIndiana-discuss] Hipster & multi-user-desktop

2017-03-02 Thread Jacques Hugo
Hi all,

I have upgraded from /dev -> /hipster without any issues, however I am
having trouble installing the multi-user-desktop group into a zone. Had no
issues at all in /dev.

My setup:

-

SunOS hipstervm 5.11 illumos-72136b4 i86pc i386 i86pc

Output from installing the group:

During last August I tried to send a message and it was not posted tothe list.
Then I tried to send a test message and it was not posted again. The second one
was posted but not immediately. So  I concluded that forsome reason I am
blocked. Now, I wanted to explain to people why I was
posting the message about the XHCI driver to the OI list while it
clearlybelonged to some other list. That's all. I have also to add that I
wasreceiving mails from the list for some time but I haven;t received
anythingfor sometime. Maybe I have deleted my subscription and I do not
remember this.
But it would be nice to send my initial message about the UBS3 driver tothe
person who works on it, just in case this can be proved useful to him.

A.S.

Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] Issues with https://pkg.openindiana.org and debugging

2017-03-02 Thread Nikola M

Hello people,

there were few of you who had problems with using https://pkg.openindiana.org
. I would like to track down these issues, so we
could slowly start moving to HTTPS-only.

I don't expect to ever move to https-only and I see that as not very
wise idea, since how many installs there are already using http. (And
for people behind proxies, aether https or http might be usable for them)

Maybe checking packages with signatures can be a nice project actually.
Using https by default could be nice, without killing http.
If people need to update, say, certificates package and there is no
working http, how they would update it if https is not working for some
reason?

I migrated back from https to http on 2 machines, to be able to update
in few previous days, so yes, I might provide error output next time it
happens, e.g. I can migrate back on https on your request and see if I
can provide output.

However, before doing so, we need to ensure that everybody is able to HTTPS. For
identifying problematic hosts, I would gladly ask people who are experiencing
problems with HTTPS on pkg.openindiana.org to
provide me with the following outputs:

pkg info userland-incorporation package/pkg crypto/ca-certificates
library/python-2/pycurl library/python-2/pyopenssl library/python-2/m2crypto

I was trying to reproduce the issue, but I wasn’t successful. It would also
help if somebody could tell how can I get into “broken” state.

On the first machine it was OK with https, but on 2 other machines (-2,
-3) I migrated back to http:

https://mega.nz/#!7cwjDLSY!zbPkCZrGhkcXMR3rYB6Fi0y4_AGs-74l7CgG9vUXyJk
https://mega.nz/#!KcRFzayA!dVr37ptTsN_Q_clFyJsKn1WkYpgUstgti3i9yG5FjQU
https://mega.nz/#!3EIwiKpT!H1BcRrighyDmY9U06JqbaSSObXrt1v02ApDI_MDMvEs

Since now I suspected something with my lan setup, but since others
experience that too, it would be good to share error messages at least,
I will if I have one again on update.

Hello,

this mailing list is related to OpenIndiana, not Oracle Solaris. If you have

People on this list using/hearing about Openindiana are the same people
that were using Solaris before and possibly now. Adequate answer is
(how) to install Openindiana.

Yes, OI lists are obviously for OI support/discussion and this mailing
list is for general discussion and not an strictly support list, so
there might be wider discussion then strictly Openindiana.

It is important to mention that Solaris sources are used as OI upstream
and Solaris have a place on this list as the related operating system
for discussion topics.
