I've not been able to get USB passthru to work so far.

Last time I tried it panic'd my machine.

On the positive side on the current OI 2022.11 USB automount immediately works,
so as soon as some USB device is inserted it seems HAL (hardware abstraction 
daemon) knows about it and is aware of the new USB device.

It's easy to reproduce.  

If I install OI 2020.04 then run pkg update, I get 'openindiana zfs' 
vdev_disk_open devid mismatch messages logged in /var/adm/messages as 
kern.notice  

Followed by a NOTICE of update devid from ... to ...

However for me

1) this notice does not appear I install the new OI 2022.11 ISO image, then run 
pkg update,
 
and 2) it has never caused a problem for reboot or 
/lib/svc/bin/restore_repository etc. or any real problem for me (I think)

I am just using a single hard disk SATA in a Dell Precision workstation (UEFI 
boot).

I've opened a bug at https://www.illumos.org/issues/15249  which I logged for 
illumos although it may be an OpenIndiana issue.
