Is this now a "Wait for us to fix it" issue? I don't have the skill or
resources (AFAIK) to be involved in recompiling/porting to gcc-10.

For those who need the gui, use
pkg://openindiana.org/system/virtualbox@6.1.40-2022.0.0.0:20221108T082551Z

pfexec pkg install
pkg://openindiana.org/system/virtualbox@6.1.40-2022.0.0.0:20221108T082551Z

pfexec pkg freeze virtualbox

Would "freeze" break later updates? VB is up to 7.0.10 now, so this
one's lagging a bit.

Thank you

Carl

I also have an Optimus setup, but configured "Discrete Graphics"
in the Firmware, so the intel card should be disabled.

Yepp, that's what I tried..

I also tried a 535.104.05 today, so I guess it's a dead horse I'm
riding on.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I tried today 470.199.02 and the error persists, same with
535.104.05 (some slightly different hex codes in the output, but
the same messages).

So I guess, I should sell it off again...

What a pity :/

Thank you,

Try to update. The latest nvidia-470 driver in the repo is 470.199.02.

Hi!

I tried a P51 some time ago. It had a "optimus" called constellation
between the intel and the nvidia graphics.

If you have this, i doubt you have a chance to get nvidia graphics to work.

If you have very dedicated hardware paths for each graphic controller,
you could be able to completely disable the intel graphics.
On my DELL Precision 7720 i am able to do it this way.

Have a close look into your BIOS settings.
Maybe you are lucky with a newer driver, P1000 is supported by 525 and
535, see here:

[OpenIndiana-discuss] NVidia driver Lenovo P52

2023-09-06 Thread Olaf Bohlen
Hi,

in my process to find a suitable Notebook for daily use, I bought
a Lenovo P52 since it has an NVidia P1000 discrete graphics which
is supported by the drivers OI ships.

However I get an annoying error:

I'm aware that this might be a problem in the driver and/or
firmware, but maybe someone here had a similiar problem and found
a solution for this?

I have set the BIOS option to "discrete graphics" and also updated
to the latest Firmware.

Regards,

Olaf

Oh, I see. It's probably this Synpatics thingie...heck :/

Thank you!

I'll try alternatives also...like with another post here ;)
