Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] Can't compile Glib 1.242

I solved the problem, now it works!

export
PATH=/opt/solarisstudio12.3/bin/:/usr/gnu/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin

It works on my computer.

Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] poweroff does not turn off the computer

2012-04-19 Thread Dietmar Sovonja

Hi Milan,

on both computers I have the latest BIOS. I tried other OS (Debian,
Haiku and Windows XP) and they all turn off the computer. It seems to be
a problem with OpenIndiana.

I found a similiar discussion on the Opensolaris mailinglist, I followed
the instructions I found there and came to the same results as the
thread starter. I don't know what I should do.

Shutdown/Poweroff will not turn off computer
http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/pm-discuss/2009-August/thread.html#640

Is it possibly a bug?

Best Regards,

I installed the build 151a3 on 2 different systems, both with the same

64-bit version on a ASRock P5B-DE Mainboard with Intel dual-core D915.)

On both systems, the computer turns off sometimes, but mostly not. On my
desktop computer, after the message "syncing file systems... done", the
system hangs. On the Asus Eee computer, the display turns off and the
cooler starts running with maximum speed, but the computer stays on.

this is usually because of some bug in system ACPI/BIOS. Could you
verify you have the latest BIOS available in these systems?

Best regards,

Thanks a lot.

I tried the workaround, but the problem still exists. (I also tried the
option -F)

Hi
I solved the problem adding the command "psradm -f -a" in the file:
*/usr/lib/hal/sunos/hal-system-power-shutdown-sunos*

just before the init 5 command:

unsupported() {
echo "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.SystemPowerManagement.NotSupported" >&2
echo "No shutdown command found" >&2
exit 1
}

if [ -x "/sbin/init" ] ; then
*/usr/sbin/psradm -f -a*
/sbin/init 5
exit $?
else
unsupported
fi

The command disables the extra processors, and permits to switch off the
computer.

I hope this solves the issue, Maybe could be added to the stable release.
