The -07 version of the solaris 10 Oracle patch is from last monday. Seems to me it fixes all. But had little time to test it. Gdm is not 'installed', i checked it yesterday and was not in the svcs list. But i guessed that it wasn't needed/used by openindiana. I have a laptop with a nvidia card and thought that was causing the troubles. Thank you all for the support. I'm sorry i didn't mention that i used the text-installer, from my point of view the textinstaller meant uses no gui to install. I have to get used to the differences between Solaris10 and OpenIndiana. I am/was not familiar with the pkg search and pkg install routines, but that really makes a sysadmins life a much easier. What is the benefit of using lvm dom0 on zfs? I am not familiar with lvm dom0 but after reading some info about it looks the same as zfs? [OpenIndiana-discuss] webmin install faillure
After installing webmin via pkg install pkg:/system/management/web...@1.510-0.148 and running setup.sh it ends with a failure on importing the svc xml. svccfg: Unable to stat file /var/svc/manifest/application/management/webmin.xml. No such file or directory Attempting to start Webmin mini web server.. svcadm: Pattern 'application/management/webmin' doesn't match any instances ERROR: Failed to start web server! The correct webmin.xml is located at /lib/svc/manifest/application/management/webmin.xml After importing that it Works as a charm. Thanks all for the warm welcoming. Who is using OpenIndiana in a production environment? Is it risky or just as good as Solaris used to be? Has anyone used Glassfish on OpenIndiana? I read some previous posts but it seems that Oracle created a nice smoke curtain around the licenses. As far as I know now I can download and install the Opensource Glassfish 3.0.1 and the seperate JDK1.6_023 without problems/additional licenses. But if I download the bundled Java EE 6 Web Profile SDK then I may only TEST it.
