[openmeetings-user] Re: user's privileges in a moderated room

2011-12-10 Thread Krzysztof
What's more, a user (not being a moderator) cannot upload a file to
the whiteboard through an upper menu tab "Files" as it is inaccessible
(greyed out), but
they are free to right click "My files" or "Public files" in the tree
folder on the left, choose "New file" from the context menu, and
upload whatever
they want directly to the whiteboard wiping it out if they wish so.

[openmeetings-user] user's privileges in a moderated room

2011-12-10 Thread Krzysztof
Hi,

Open Meetings 1.9.0 (a moderated room)
When a user (who is not a moderator) tries to drag and drop the
uploaded document from the folder tree on the left to the whiteboard,
a notice appears "Get moderation" and that's ok. But it's enough for
the user to double click the document and he/she is free to go,
including downloading and dragging and dropping the document on the
whiteboard.
Can this be fixed, Sebastian?

[openmeetings-user] Re: .ppt,.doc giving erroe

2011-12-09 Thread Krzysztof
Please, make sure that all the tools used by Open Meetings (swftools,
ImageMagick, sox, ffmpeg, except for Open Office which is run as a
service) are installed in folders without spaces in their paths, that
is not in "Program Files" for example. You can create a separate
folder "om_tools" directly under c:\ and put the tools in there.
Remember to change path names in the admin panel in OM.

[openmeetings-user] Re: dashboard.show.myrooms

2011-12-08 Thread Krzysztof
MY APOLOGIES, dashboard.show.myrooms switch IS WORKING. "My Rooms" tab
is not visible on the front page when the switch is 0.
However "My Rooms" are still accessible through "ROOMS->My Rooms" tab.

My big request to the creators of Open Meetings is to introduce
switches which would hide some elements of the client application,
especially "calendar" and "my rooms", depending on the "level_id" of
the user.
The reasoning behind the request is the following. I've got some 800
students. Each of them, at the moment, has a possibility of
entering a room either through "My Rooms" or through a calendar event
(creating a room). It's quite easy to imagine what would happen
if even one tenth of them entered their rooms simultaneously with
their cameras switched on and started uploading documents.
I guess the server would be down or jammed for quite a while.

BTW, Sebastian, I still can't upload documents in 1.9.0 under my XP,
but I've just tested the nightly build #749 (r4703) and the uploading
is working perfectly
(the fix in DownloadHandler.class).

dashboard.show.myrooms switch in "Configuration" doesn't seem to work.
When switched to 0 "My Rooms" tab is still visible and accessible.

[openmeetings-user] jpeg thumbs

2011-12-05 Thread Krzysztof
I noticed that in case of some uploaded documents "ImageMagick" is
trying to produce jpeg thumbs from alpha channel, the effect being
black images, as native format for jpeg is 24bit.
The solution is to change arg for ImageMagick from "-thumbnail" to "-
alpha off -thumbnail".

2011-12-03 Thread Krzysztof
Hi,

Do the thumbs of the pages of the uploaded documents appear correctly
on the left?

I suspect the issue could be connected with ImageMagick producing the
thumbs. I had a similar problem.
Can you post the content of the command window?

org.openmeetings.servlet.outputhandler.DownloadHandler
[http-0.0.0.0-5080-1] - Error downloading:
java.lang.Exception: Invalid file requested

The file is present. I looked up the code ("DownloadHandler") where
the exception "Invalid file requested" is declared. The exception is
triggered when the "current_dir" doesn't match the beginning of the
"full_path". Then I thought how on earth, the above log shows that
"current_dir" exactly matches the beginning of the "full_path". Then I
looked back at the code and noticed that in the log output actually
this is not "current_dir" but "working_dir" which is declared:

(DownloadHandler line 225)
log.debug("requestedFile: " + requestedFile + " current_dir: " +
working_dir);

And here is my humble request to you Sebastian. Would it be possible
to add in the log output the actual "current_dir" just to make sure
if it triggers the exception or not, for example:

log.debug("requestedFile: " + requestedFile + " current_dir: " +
current_dir + " working_dir: " + working_dir);

For the time being I've tested all versions of openmeetings starting
with 1.6.2 and this one is running smoothly (at least under my XP),
1.7.0 is throwing me out of the room and since 1.8.0 when this "throw
exception" mechanism was introduced, none of 1.8.x file upload is
working for me.
Anyway, it seems you introduced a double checking mechanism as earlier
in the code you already check if the file exists.
Maybe it's something to do with the file management system on XP as I
noticed there were other XP users announcing similar problems.
I know I'm a real pain in the ... bottom, but I like your application
very much and would desperately:) like to use it in elearning with my
students.
Eventually I can do with 1.6.2 which is also splendid :)

[openmeetings-user] Re: Problems with uploading files

2011-11-20 Thread Krzysztof
Hi Sebastian,

I won't argue about uploading swf files, as I wrote, I'm not sure
about the suggested fix.
But I'm pretty sure about "webapps/openmeetings/default" directory
bug.
If you have

String current_dir = getServletContext().getRealPath("/");
working_dir = current_dir + "upload" + File.separatorChar;

then there should be

full_path = current_dir + "default" + File.separatorChar + ...;

[openmeetings-user] Re: Problems with uploading files

2011-11-20 Thread Krzysztof
Hi,

openmeetings r4589.
I've looked up the code and suggest the following solutions to the
above problems:

1. Downloading default images from "default" directory:

   "DownloadHandler.class" (lines 261, 267, 274)
   full_path = current_dir + File.separatorChar + "default" +
File.separatorChar + ...;
   should be changed to
   full_path = current_dir + "default" + File.separatorChar + ...;

2. Uploading swf files to the whiteboard. I'm not sure if the
suggested fix works, theoretically it should as at least the slashes
and backslashes will not be duplicated.

   "DonwloadHandler.class" (line 159)
   working_dir = working_dir + roomName + File.separatorChar +
parentPath + File.separatorChar;
   should be changed to
   working_dir = working_dir + roomName + parentPath;

Regards,
Krzysztof

[openmeetings-user] Problems with uploading files

2011-11-19 Thread Krzysztof
Hi,

I have installed and tested OpenMeetings r4589 under jdk1.6.0_25 (os
Windows XP).
Everything 's working except for uploading files. I have looked up
"openmeetings.log" file and noticed that the paths to the uploaded
files are incorrect, I mean there's a problem with slashes in the
paths. The problem also concerns some of the default images used by
openmeetings. The extracts from the log:

1. the default image "_chat_profile_pic.jpg" (the image is present) in
the "openmeetings\default" directory. Notice the double backslash in
the "full_path".
