Re: [osol-discuss] porting simple programs, Words and Vulsearch

2009-11-15 Thread Che Kristo
Hi David,

I don't think you need to worry about people not welcoming you because you
are Catholic. I am an Orthodox Christian and have no qualms with letting the
community here know about it. So yeah...welcome!

As a short term solution have you thought about running these windows
applications on top of Wine?

Thank you. The fix was to add dev=`echo $dev | sed 's/mirror.*/mirror/'` after

Could you recommend some 64bit 133Mhz PCI-X cards (eight drives on a card),
preferable with SFF-8087 conns (but straight SATA will do fine) wich work best
with Solaris? Some LSI? No RAID.

Thanks!

[osol-discuss] Error upgrading from snv_125 to snv_127

2009-11-15 Thread Ron Halstead
I upgraded SUNWluu, lur and lucfg from the snv_127 media. When I luactivate the
new BE, I get the following:

sudo luactivate -n snv_127
System has findroot enabled GRUB
ERROR: Unable to determine the configuration of the current boot environment

Any ideas?

I think I have read somewhere that the older version works, but there was some
slight issue with it. Like, slower read/write speed or so.

Sorry for the misleading post above. Yes all test that I have done with
rge.mcast3 have worked without issue.
Today I will be pushing it to the wall with a test between three machines all
pulling on each other at 1Gbyte transfers. This should be the final test that
everything works.

Thanks

Thank you for testing. I just update the fix of rge to reduce cpu usage again.

I am finally able to boot from and then install the snv_127 iso image
(downloaded from genunix.org) in VBox 3.0.10. It turns out, I strongly
suspect, the problem is related to a bug in the Ubuntu package of VirtualBox.

I went back to the snv_126 boot environment, and it also successfully boots
into the graphic mode.

Strangely, this bug did not seem to affect (at least the installations of) the
os0906 LiveCD, Solaris 10u8, and most Linux distros.

BTW, the sound is also working now (no sound in os0906)--though only barely.
But I am glad that at least something is working. :-)
