Re: [osol-discuss] OpenSolaris as WiFi access point

OpenSolaris desperately needs middleware. It is typical example. There are lot
ofARM-based routers available on the market today for home use and
small/mediumenterprises. They usually have Linux installed. I wonder what will
happen if we haveall middleware ported on SunOS. Will we see huge adoption of
OpenSolaris?

Sorry that we do not have this feature.

One thing you could do is submit a RFE (Request for Enhancement) for this
feature to the relevant project, this will tell them that they do indeed have a
demand for such a feature...

To submit an RFE you can go to http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/ and click on
¨file a bug¨, select ¨distribution¨, fill out the details and select
¨enhancement¨ from the ¨severity¨ dropdown.

I don't have a wireless router, and currently my server is running Ubuntu with hostapd to provide wireless networking.

My question: is something similar also possible with OpenSolaris? I don't seem
to be able to find anything on the topic, googling for OpenSolaris and wifi
only returns instructions to connect to an existing network.

Solaris WiFi has no such feature.
