In case that you're trying to boot in a Virtual Machine, I warn you that if you don't set the 512 MB of RAM minimun required, the LiveCD doesn't works properly. Issue founded making tests on VMs using VirtualBox. I hope that this could be helpful for you or someone else. Are you able to login as "jack" with password "jack" ? I suspect there could be a problem starting the X11 server. Does it log anything to /var/log/Xorg.0.log ? Are all services started ok?
