I think I'm done but, since lots of things can go wrong when changing
such a library, I'd like to get some folks banging on the executables
 before moving that to review.

 Binaries can be found at:

Please let me know which platform you test on and what the overall result.
Tested with the prebuilt binary on Linux/x86 according to the ticket
acceptance criteria. Everything worked well.

Testing

ld.gold links the viewer on my machine in 8 seconds, as
opposed to 19 seconds with ld.bfd. Moreover, it uses a
LOT less memory during linking (about 750 MB instead of
2.5 GB! (for viewer 1)).

Since my machine locked up hard when I run out of memory
(something with using an encrypted RAID for my swap),
and compiling viewer 2 uses more than 3 GB, I couldn't
compile viewer 2 at all anymore without this patch (and
using ld.gold). And OMG this is fast!

Aleric

2010-12-21 Thread Erin Mallory

fix for storm 737 seems to work without breaking anything. On the contrary it
is a wonderful little fix.
723 has issues please see my comments on the jira
669 looks good
387 looks good.
615 will take some getting used to simply because its a change, but looks very
useful.
411 seems good to me.
the only issue i see so far is 723...

Subject: [opensource-dev] Test build for a bunch of proposed patches

Hi guys,

Quite a few proposed changesets required a test build to be reviewedand
approved by Esbee and others. I created such a build and it's available here:
http://automated-builds-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/hg/repo/merov_viewer-development-import/rev/217627/index.html

This merges the following patches on top of the current viewer-development:
** STORM-785
** STORM-737
** STORM-723
** STORM-669
** STORM-387
** STORM-615
** STORM-411

Enjoy!

Re: [opensource-dev] Review Request: STORM-807 update returnability of objects based on new encroachment rules

2010-12-21 Thread Philippe (Merov) Bossut
Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the heads up. The repo looks good except for a couple of files it
touches that it shouldn't (like Info-SecondLife.plist) and changes that seem
unrelated to the feature. I'll comment in JIRA. It merges fine with
viewer-development.

The attached diff though is a bit mind boggling. I'm not sure how you
produced it but I certainly would discourage anyone trying to apply it. Devs
willing to test encroaching then should pull from your repo and ignore that
diff.

Cheers,
- Merov
