[opensource-dev] HG-Repositories

2012-08-07 Thread Boroondas Gupte
>From recent changes

on the wiki, I take that the role of the various official mercurial
repositories has changed again. Which repository should contributions be
based on, now? And which one is now the recommended base for third party
viewers?

Cheers,

- From what I know, viewer-release is still the preferred for pulling
upstream changes from, and that viewer-dev won't have changesets being
removed from it now.

Pipelining is not, unfortunately, supported yet on the servers... we're
working on that. And despite Carlos assertions to the contrary your
thoughts are appreciated, thank you. You're logic is in all important
respects correct.

It is the wrapper around the Havok functionality in the viewer. It
replaces (and incorporates) llconvexdecomposition.

For open source, there is a stub version.

Contributions should be based on viewer-development.

Third party viewers are advised / requested to not include anything in
their own general releases until it is at least in our Beta versions
(and you'll probably save yourselves some duplicated effort pulling
fixes if you do).

As I understand.

1. Code reviews are against viewer-release only.
2. With viewer-development and viewer-beta, LL retains the right (not
intention) to strip features and bug fixes at any time.
3. The development loop is closed at viewer-release and at times both
viewer-release and viewer-beta can be reset to viewer-release. This reset would
occur to remove all traces of an not in viewer-release feature.

IMO, it is fairly safe (not 100%) for TPV's to develop against viewer-beta.

The review board was changed to viewer-release just a couple months ago. Is it
changed back?

I tried to look but, password reset doesn't work.
