[openssl.org #2978] CVS repositories serving stale data

2014-08-18 Thread Rich Salz via RT
We've tried to plainly mark that CVS is historic.

If you're referring to http://cvs.openssl.org, then removal would hardly
be appropriate, because there are references to it in lists and RT. It
would be appropriate to switch off anonymous CVS access.

That's what I meant.

You can, however, markup the index and the browse pages with something
saying "retired". Edit cvstrac.wml and rebuild the site.

Generally it's good to provide clues so that when someone sees what
_looks_ like it should be current, they get told "no, you want git
instead", while still leaving the old site up.

-Phil, who paid attention and knew to use git, but can understand the
frustration of others encountering this now

[openssl.org #2978] CVS repositories serving stale data

2013-02-07 Thread Vladimir Kotal via RT

The CVS repositories on cvs.openssl.org are still up and serving stale
data. Please turn them off and ideally send email about the git
transition to the announce mailing list.

Thanks,
