[Openstack] [Cinder] Icehouse RC3 available

2014-04-15 Thread Thierry Carrez
Hello everyone,

Two regressions were detected in Cinder release candidate testing. We
respun a new release candidate to include the fixes for those issues in
the final Icehouse release. You can find links to the 2 bugs fixed and
the RC3 source tarball at:

https://launchpad.net/cinder/icehouse/icehouse-rc3

Unless new release-critical regressions are found that warrant a new
release candidate respin, this RC3 will be formally released as part of
the 2014.1 final version on Thursday. Last minute testing is therefore
strongly encouraged on this tarball !

Alternatively, you can directly test the milestone-proposed branch at:
https://github.com/openstack/cinder/tree/milestone-proposed

If you find an issue that could be considered release-critical and
justify a release candidate respin, please file it at:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/cinder/+filebug

and tag it *icehouse-rc-potential* to bring it to the release crew's
attention.

Regards,

2014-04-15 Thread Everett Toews
Hi Shital,

I know we covered this in the jclouds user mailing list a while ago but I
wanted to follow up on it here too.

The jclouds Maven dependency for Neutron is

  org.apache.jclouds.labs
  openstack-glance
  ${jclouds.version}

You would access these feature via the PortApi interface.

[Openstack] Question about my company info in stackalytics

"independent" after I verified the ICLA. ([1])

After reading the "how to change" anchor on this page which is linked to

the domain is in the "default_data.json", according the rule 1 of [2], my
company should be "huawei" instead of “independent".

What could be causing it? Thanks

Your launchpad account (https://launchpad.net/~zhangleiqiang) lists only your
gmail address (the one from which you sent this email, for example).

You should go and add yourself to default_data.json and list both email
addresses.

Re: [Openstack] Glance Image list not working after Keystone SSL setup

2014-04-15 Thread Devendra Gupta
Finally I was able to solve this issue by deleting wrong certificates form
the following path:

rm /var/lib/neutron/keystone-signing/*

Now I have a complete OpenStack environment running with SSL enabled
Keystone but all other components are running on HTTP.

I am thinking to follow the same approach and use the same certs as used in
Keystone.conf to configure all other components like nova, glance, cinder,
neutron to SSL by updating the conf, registry, paste files with cert path
and ssl_enabled to true. Please suggest if this approach have some flaws.

Regards,
Devendra

[Openstack] [Ceilometer] Icehouse RC3 available

2014-04-15 Thread Thierry Carrez
Hello everyone,

One misnamed meter was discovered in Ceilometer release candidate
testing. Rather than having to support this misnamed meter in the
Icehouse final release, we decided to respin a new release candidate to
include the renamed meter in the final Icehouse release. You can find a
link to the bug and the RC3 source tarball at:

https://launchpad.net/ceilometer/icehouse/icehouse-rc3

Unless release-critical regressions are found that warrant a new
release candidate respin, this RC3 will be formally released as part of
the 2014.1 final version on Thursday. Last minute testing is therefore
strongly encouraged on this tarball !

Alternatively, you can directly test the milestone-proposed branch at:
https://github.com/openstack/ceilometer/tree/milestone-proposed

If you find an issue that could be considered release-critical and
justify a release candidate respin, please file it at:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ceilometer/+filebug

and tag it *icehouse-rc-potential* to bring it to the release crew's
attention.

Regards,

[Openstack] ANNOUNCEMENT: Ultimate OpenStack IceHouse Guide - IPv6-Ready (almost)!

2014-04-15 Thread Martinx - ジェームズ
Hello Stackers,

I just finished a Quick Guide for OpenStack IceHouse, on top of Ubuntu
14.04 and, IPv6 is working!

But, IPv6 support is very limited, it is required manual intervention but,
at least, it works! There is no IPv6 on Neutron L3 router yet, so, this
guide doesn't use it, instead, it uses `Single Flat Network` topology,
without L3.

Almost everything is working with IPv6, including OpenStack Management
(APIs, Endpoints), Horizon Dashboard...

Here it is:

Ultimate OpenStack IceHouse Guide - ML2 Flat Network - IPv6-Friendly:

https://gist.github.com/tmartinx/9177697

My intention is to contribute with docs.openstack.org but, for now, I'll
stick with this guide and later, I'll try to bring some ideas back to
docs.openstack.org itself.

Have fun!

Cheers!
Thiago

Thanks Aaron. I think this could potentially be used as a work-around if
there's no API support for setting MAC addr. I saw a commit that seems like
the feature I'm looking for:
https://review.openstack.org/#/c/23892/ (I'm copying Zhi who is the committer
for this patch).

Zhi,
Could you please confirm if https://review.openstack.org/#/c/23892/ is used for
setting fix MAC addr when invoking API to create new server? If so, could you
give an example JSON payload where you set the MAC address? I checked the
changes you submitted but did not find any payload with MAC address. Also,
could you confirm which release of OpenStack has your patch?I'm currently
using
http://docs.openstack.org/api/openstack-compute/2/content/POST_createServer_v2__tenant_id__servers_CreateServers.html
  to create new server with fixed IP and subnet.

Thanks,
-Jeffrey

Not sure if this will work for you, but you can create a port beforehand with
the required info and specify port-id on boot instead of net-id:

# neutron port-create --fixed-ip ip_address=x.x.x.x --mac-address
aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff my_network
# nova boot ... --nic port-id=

those are cmdline examples, but you get the idea...

Hi,

I'm new to this mailing list, please feel free to direct my question to
appropriate list if this is not the right one.

I'm currently using
http://docs.openstack.org/api/openstack-compute/2/content/POST_createServer_v2__tenant_id__servers_CreateServers.html
 to launch an instance on OpenStack with an attached network uuid and fixed IP
address. I was wondering if there's any API available to set fixed MAC
address in addition to network UUID and fixed IP. Ideally, I'd like to set
all three parameters (network UUID, fixed IP, and MAC addr) in the same API
call.

Thanks,

Re: [Openstack] Neutron Issues...

2014-04-15 Thread Erich Weiler
I think I've identified a problem - when I create a new network and
subnet via [neutron net-create and neutron subnet-create], it creates
the networks fine, and then I start the dhcp service on the network node:

/etc/init.d/neutron-dhcp-agent start

It seems to add a tap interface to br-int:

# ovs-ofctl show br-int
OFPT_FEATURES_REPLY (xid=0x2): dpid:c2864f59274e
n_tables:254, n_buffers:256

OFPT_GET_CONFIG_REPLY (xid=0x4): frags=normal miss_send_len=0

But as you note, the link is down. I would expect a corresponding
interface called "tapbd844c9f-90" be created when I do a simple
"ifconfig" on the network node, but it's not there:

Re: [Openstack] Openstack Swift Testing

2014-04-15 Thread Wang, Yaguang
Hi Ankit,

As replied on cosbench mailing list, tempauth follows the same rule as swauth,
so you could use swauth for tempauth authentication. Anyway, I will add
comments in the sample configuration and user guide to emphasize it.

Thanks,

LDAP in devstack was fairly well documented. I'd have to look, but I
think it was:

add an enabled service entry for ldap
ENABLED_SERVICES=$ENABLED_SERVICES,ldap

KEYSTONE_IDENTITY_BACKEND=ldap
KEYSTONE_CLEAR_LDAP=yes
LDAP_PASSWORD=test

I posted a message on openstack-dev. The short version is that we need a
mechanism for deconflicting userids between multiple backends. I expect
to have this hashed out at the Juno summit.

[Openstack] Question regarding Nova in Havana

2014-04-15 Thread Prashant Upadhyaya
Hi,

I am writing a Compute Node Simulator.
The idea is that I would write a piece of software using C which honors the
RabbitMQ interface towards the Controller, but will not actually do the real
thing - everything on the Compute Node will be simulated by my simulator
software.

The problem I am facing, that I have not been able to get my simulated CN
listed in the output of
nova-manage service list

I am on Havana, and my simulator is sending a periodic 'service_update' and
'compute_node_update' RPC messages to the 'nova' exchange and the 'conductor'
routing key.
I can manipulate the above messages at will to fool the controller.
(I observe the messages from a real CN and take cues from there to construct a
fake one from my simulator)

Question is - what causes the controller to add a new Nova Compute in its
database, is it the 'service_update' RPC or something else.

Hopefully you can help me reverse engineer the interface.

Regards
-Prashant

Re: [Openstack] Question regarding Nova in Havana

2014-04-15 Thread Yaguang Tang
Hi Prashant,

when the service starts, it checks if it has already registered in the
database, if not, it will update the db to create an item for itself. you
can see from the nova/service.py

149 def start(self):
150 verstr = version.version_string_with_package()
151 LOG.audit(_('Starting %(topic)s node (version %(version)s)'),
152   {'topic': self.topic, 'version': verstr})
153 self.basic_config_check()
154 self.manager.init_host()
155 self.model_disconnected = False
156 ctxt = context.get_admin_context()
157 try:
158 self.service_ref =
self.conductor_api.service_get_by_args(ctxt,
159 self.host, self.binary)
160 self.service_id = self.service_ref['id']
161 except exception.NotFound:
162 self.service_ref = self._create_service_ref(ctxt)

I think you need to add this logic to your fake nova-compute service.

Re: [Openstack] Query on container sync

2014-04-15 Thread Kuo Hugo
   - So do they want to sync everything from another private cloud to
   Swift's container for once or continually ?
   - Will they perform two-way sync or one-way sync ?

For current implementation of container-sync, I'd like to say the answer is
no for this scenario.

If they just want to pull out everything to new Swift cluster, then they
need an agent tool on the old private cloud to put data onto Swift. But
it's just for once operation.
How will they keep tracking the new incoming data on private cloud ?

For Swift, container-sync process query marks in the container DB.

Re: [Openstack] Openstack Swift with Azure Integration

2014-04-15 Thread mehmet hacısalihoğlu
Hi,

My problem;
If swift storage fill up 80 percent or 90 percent, It will automaticly
store azure storage to new data.
So I want to integrate swift with azure. Or How can solve this problem?

Regards.

Re: [Openstack] Question regarding Nova in Havana

2014-04-15 Thread Prashant Upadhyaya
Hi Yaguang,

[also posted this on dev]

Thanks, now one more question –

When I send the request out, I send it to the exchange ‘nova’ and routing key
‘conductor’ (using RabbitMQ), this will take the message to the Nova Conductor
on the controller, I have been able to do that much.
I do see that there is a ‘reply queue’ embedded in the above message so
presumably the Nova Conductor will use that queue to send back the response, is
that correct ?
If the above is correct, what is the ‘exchange’ used Nova Conductor to send
back this response.

Regards
-Prashant

Hi Prashant,
when the service starts, it checks if it has already registered in the
database, if not, it will update the db to create an item for itself. you can
see from the nova/service.py

149 def start(self):
150 verstr = version.version_string_with_package()
151 LOG.audit(_('Starting %(topic)s node (version %(version)s)'),
152   {'topic': self.topic, 'version': verstr})
153 self.basic_config_check()
154 self.manager.init_host()
155 self.model_disconnected = False
156 ctxt = context.get_admin_context()
157 try:
158 self.service_ref = self.conductor_api.service_get_by_args(ctxt,
159 self.host, self.binary)
160 self.service_id = self.service_ref['id']
161 except exception.NotFound:
162 self.service_ref = self._create_service_ref(ctxt)
I think you need to add this logic to your fake nova-compute service.

Hi,

I am writing a Compute Node Simulator.
The idea is that I would write a piece of software using C which honors the
RabbitMQ interface towards the Controller, but will not actually do the real
thing – everything on the Compute Node will be simulated by my simulator
software.

The problem I am facing, that I have not been able to get my simulated CN
listed in the output of
nova-manage service list

I am on Havana, and my simulator is sending a periodic ‘service_update’ and
‘compute_node_update’ RPC messages to the ‘nova’ exchange and the ‘conductor’
routing key.
I can manipulate the above messages at will to fool the controller.
(I observe the messages from a real CN and take cues from there to construct a
fake one from my simulator)

Question is – what causes the controller to add a new Nova Compute in its
database, is it the ‘service_update’ RPC or something else.

Hopefully you can help me reverse engineer the interface.

Regards
-Prashant
