[Openstack] Trove is skipped in Newton

2017-03-06 Thread Evgeniy Ivanov

Hello everybody,

I found some interesting info about Trove in Newton. I'm able to deploy
successfully some trove components (api, conductor and taskmanager) on
my test Newton environment. As for the Trove guestagent - I'm totally
not able to run it neither on Ubuntu Trusty nor Ubuntu Xenial.

I found there are no Newton packages for Trusty in The Ubuntu Cloud
Archive. The last supported release is Mitaka (I checked the
RELEASE_MAP). That looks there is no support for Newton in Trusty,
therefore I can not use Trove in Newton.

As for the Xenial release, here is a bug where Amrith Kumar (CTO Tesora)
says there is no support for Newton also -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/trove/+bug/1652312 (Should be in Ocata only)

For me, it looks like Tesora just skipped Newton, did they?

I'm asking here because there is no way to get any answers from Tesora
and Co.

Thanks for any help!

Hello,

I 've rebooted everything several times before posting here without
success...

Any other ideas?

Best,

G.

You can try to reboot the node and see if it works. Some resources
might be locked at libvirt and kvm.

Hi,

Similar issue that I suffered, too.

I wished to login to my openstack account, but the password did not match.
Then I tried the "forgot password", it said will send me a link to reset my
password.
However since then, I never received any emails for that.
I even send emails to ask about the problem to "i...@openstack.org", but still
nothing changed.
My account is still not available for me. It is sad...

Hope the system is working well, and wish our issues can be addressed soon.

The issue is "at once".
It takes some time to rotate and distribute the keys. There is one case
that.
controller A and controller B generate a new different keys. Then they copy
the key to other by using rsync.

A: 0 1 2 3
B: 0' 1' 2 3

When distributing, the 0/0' and 1/1' may be overrode(rsync hold the delete
file handler and copy it to other one). it will lead to

A: 0' 1' 2 3
B: 0 1 2 3

next rotation, it may become

A: 0' 1' 2' 3
B: 0 1 2 3

after distribute , it become

A: 0 1 2 3
B: 0' 1' 2' 3

Next rotation and distribute, issue happen.

This is a small probability, but it still possible.

Re: [Openstack] Compute Node asks for [placement] section

2017-03-06 Thread Georgios Dimitrakakis
I 've followed the changes in the aforementioned bug report a few days
ago (meaning that I 've created the DB and changed the CONF files) and I
was able to launch Cirros instances.
I will be more than happy to provide the steps to someone to look at
them if requested.

Unfortunately I am not able to launch neither Debian nor CentOS
instances and I am getting a "No valid host was found".

Not sure if this is really the same bug but how can I eliminate the
option?

Regards,

G.

Reading the initial bug report here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/openstack-manuals/+bug/1663485
as well as the proposed fix here:
https://review.openstack.org/#/c/438328

and the Cells documentation here:
https://docs.openstack.org/developer/nova/cells.html#cells-v2

my understanding is that I need to have at least one extra DB in
order for Cells to work before issuing the command to setup cells.

Is my understanding correct?
Has anybody else overcome this obstacle?

Best regards,

George

Nope, the db will be synced when you issue the cell creation, just
like in the case of nova sync.

The only req is that you need to have all computes up when creating
the cell.

To add cells you need to issue the following command after nova
service-list lists all your compute nodes as up state!

nova-manage cell_v2 simple_cell_setup --transport-url
$transport_url

Where

$transport_url=rabbit://{rabbit_user}:{rabbit_pass}@{rabbit_host}:{rabbit_port}

This command will populate the db and add a transport_url option
in
nova.conf on the controller.

Again, you need to issue this command after all computes node
show as
up state in nova service-list, otherwise you will still be unable
to
spawn instances.

I might have written the command wrong from the top of my head,
but
issue a nova-manage help cell_v2 to see the appropiate option.

I am mailing you directly because for some reason i am unable to
send
to thr mailing list.

When you reply to the mailing list olease put this mail in it so
others can see it too if they have the same problem.

Thanks,
Mihai

As you have pointed out there is also this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/openstack-manuals/+bug/1663485 [1]
[17]

that will not allow me to spawn an image until the Cells have
been
configured properly.

So I am looking for a permanent solution...

No I didnt add the [placement] section in nova.conf on the
controller but adding it only on the compute node brought it
online.

I dont know yet if I can spawn an instance and if what you
are
saying is mandatory in Ocata in order to spawn one since I
havent
reached that part of the installation guide. The verification
though
of the compute services went OK as supposed to by the
installation
guide.

George

Hi,

Did you also add the [placement] section in nova.conf on
the
controller?

Also in Ocata AFAIK you also need to create cell_v2 with
nova-manage
or else you wont be able to spawn instances.

But first add the placement section on the controller too
in
nova.conf
and the computes shoukd come online.

Hey Esteban,
I got that same error at one point. Check your file permissions on the
/etc/ceph directory and contents. In particular, make sure the glance

group as well. Here's an example:

drwxr-xr-x. 2 rootroot4.0K Jan 17 12:25 .

Let me know how things in Newton are working; we're only as far as

[Openstack] [openstack] [keystone] how to configure multiple object-store entries with different endpoints

2017-03-06 Thread Peter Brouwer

Hi

How do you setup different object stores for a different set of users,
like oversimplified example, presales users go to different object store
as users from postsales?

I get the a mix of two endpoints showing up under one user, only way to
get the groups is using different region but user still get endpoints
for both.

Hi Raja,

There's no such thing as Mirantis Community version. Are you referring
to OpenStack Fuel? Perhaps the Mirantis OpenStack packages? Something
else entirely?

Please elaborate :)

[Openstack] lbaasv2: tempest tests relate to "empty/invalid" tenant ids fails

2017-03-06 Thread Talluri S S R
Hi
When I'm running neutron tempest api v2 tests . There is issue
with all Admin user test-cases for creating resource with "empty/invalid"
tenant ids are failing with backend driver (say NetScaler) there is validation
for resource attributes and it raises BadRequest which is translated as "Driver
Internal Error" at Plugin Layer."
I'm still facing the same issue :
https://lists.launchpad.net/yahoo-eng-team/msg32397.html
Is there a fix for this ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards
Rohith.
