 Just because the driver code works for one backend solution, doesn't

 Lets continue with code reviews with these patches only if they have a

 any rebranded drivers in.

 Those loopbacks are specifically for Cinder (well, the
 stack-volume-default is actually for nothing right now but that's a whole
 separate debate I have had with some folks and have given up on).

 Ephemeral Nova instances by default in devstack are going to consume
 qcow files in /opt/stack/data/nova/instances (assuming you're still using
 the same local.conf I gave you a while back).

 Thanks,
 John

 Hi Nikesh,

 I believe I already went through this with one of your coworkers via IRC a
 week or so ago. Check and make sure you're not using QEMU and that you're
 using KVM for your virtualization. This of course assumes you're on a
 modern processor that support nested virt. To check this, just set:
 virt_type=kvm in your nova.conf.

 You may need to enable virt settings on your physical machines bios.

2015-01-19 Thread Nikesh Kumar Mahalka
actually swift was disable in my local.conf of devstack but below
things were uncommented
SWIFT_HASH=66a3d6b56c1f479c8b4e70ab5c2000f5

SWIFT_REPLICAS=1

SWIFT_DATA_DIR=$DEST/data

So after unstack and clean,i commented these entries and again tried
stack and run tempest tests and now no error.

[openstack-dev] what code in cinder volume driver supports volume migration between two backends of same type but having different volume types?

2015-01-19 Thread Nikesh Kumar Mahalka

How to use cinder retype?

I tried for volume migration from one volume-type LVM backend to
another volume-type LVM backend.But its failed.
How can i acheive this?

Similarly i am writing a cinder volume driver for my array and want to
migrate volume from one volume type to another volume type for my
array backends.

[openstack-dev] sos-ci for cinder scst

2015-01-16 Thread Nikesh Kumar Mahalka
Hi
*,*
localconf.base file in sos-ci/sos-ci/tempates have

*CINDER_BRANCH = master*

*volume_driver=cinder.volume.drivers.solidfire.SolidFireDriver*
similarly in our localconf.base file,we have

*CINDER_BRANCH = master[[post-config|$CINDER_CONF]] [lvmdriver-1]
iscsi_helper=scstadminvolume_driver =
cinder.volume.drivers.lvm.LVMISCSIDriver*

when sos-ci launch instance and try to install
devstack with *CINDER_BRANCH=gerrit event patch reference*,cinder-volume
service is unable to start.
Because our code is not in master for this local.conf to be run by
LVMISCSIDriver.

As far we know,we should not give* CINDER_BRANCH=refs/changes/78/145778/1*
in our localconf.base,because sos-ci is setting CINDER_BRANCH with gerrit
event stream events patch reference.

 If you set the following configuration option in your devstack localrc,
 all the log files from the different screen session'd services will end up

 If you set the following configuration option in your devstack localrc,
 all the log files from the different screen session'd services will end up
 in the $LOGDIR directory:

 I guess the failure you mentioned at the above is:

 If so, that is not a problem.
 VolumesSnapshotTest creates two volumes, and the tearDownClass checks these

[Openstack] how to deploy juno devstack without multiple backend

2014-09-16 Thread Nikesh Kumar Mahalka
 Hi,
I want to delploy a juno devstack without multiple backends.
I want only one backend different from lvm,say HP MSA.
Can any one tell me what to modify in local.conf of devstack for this?
By default,it is enabling multiple lvm backends.

Also,if i want multiple backends different from lvm backends ,what to
modify in local.conf?

i have gone through Devstack documentation,but it is not straightforward
like openstack documentation.

Hi,this is part of nova.conf file in juno-devstack installation.
If qemu is not supported,then why this is added in nova.conf file?

[libvirt]
inject_partition = -2
use_usb_tablet = False
cpu_mode = none
virt_type = qemu

[openstack-dev] How to run 'tempest-dsvm-full' locally

2014-08-02 Thread Nikesh Kumar Mahalka
I want to run 'tempest-dsvm-full' on my local devstack environment as
mentioned in below link:

https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Cinder/how-to-contribute-a-driver

Currently i have not proposed a blue-print for cinder driver and my company
have not signed CLA.
So i want to first run 'tempest-dsvm-full' locally.

How can i run this locally without signing any CLA?

 Hi Nikesh,

 To further figure out what's wrong, take a look at the c-vol, c-api and

 tabs in the stack screen session. If you're unsure where to go from there
 after
 looking at the output, set the `SCREEN_LOGDIR` setting in your local.conf

Till now i did not submit any blueprint for cinder volume driver.
Is there any deadline for submitting blueprint for cinder volume driver?
Is there any other deadline for submitting code and tests after registering

I have to plan my schedules according to that for completing driver in time
for Juno release.

Any help or suggestion would be really appreciated.
