Re: [openstack-dev] [Tacker] Redundancy VNFFG module in tacker

2018-11-09 Thread Trinh Nguyen
Hi Hosung,

Here are a couple suggestions you can follow.

1. You can first follow the OpenStack contributor guidelines and set up the
needed accounts [1].
2. After you have the launchpad account, register a blueprint for your
feature in Tacker's launchpad [2].
3. Clone the Tacker Specs repository to your local dev environment [3].
Write a spec (detail about your feature, implementation plan, etc.) for
your feature. Commit. and then 'git review' to push your spec to Gerrit [4]
for the Tacker team to review and comment.
4. After the spec has been approved by the core reviewers and Tacker's PTL,
you can start working on the implementation the same way when you write the
spec:

   - Clone the needed repositories (tacker, python-tackerclient, or
tacker-horizon) to your local dev environment
   - Make changes
   - Commit and review
   - Wait for other to comments and refine your changes.

You can join the Tacker's IRC chat channel (#tacker) to talk to other
Tacker developers.

Hope that will help.

[openstack-dev] Asking for suggestion of video conference tool for team and webinar

2018-11-06 Thread Trinh Nguyen
Hi,

I tried several free tools for team meetings, vPTG, and webinars but there
are always drawbacks ( because it's free, of course). For example:

   - Google Hangout: only allow a maximum of 10 people to do the video calls
   - Zoom: limits about 45m per meeting. So for a webinar or conference
call takes more than 45m we have to splits into 2 sessions or so.

If anyone in the community can suggest some better video conferencing
tools, that would be great. So we can organize better communication for our
team and the community's webinars.

Many thanks,

[openstack-dev] The first Vietnam OSUG upstream contribution mentoring webinar

2018-11-01 Thread Trinh Nguyen
Hello,

The Vietnam OpenStack User Group has planned to organize an upstream
contribution mentoring program for a while and finally, we decided the
first webinar will be on next Monday, 5 November. Attendees will be anyone
who is interested in the development process of OpenStack (mostly
Vietnamese, students, developer, etc.). Mentors will be some experienced
OpenStack upstream developers, core members of some projects, etc. You can
check out the details on the Meetup link below [1].

We also want to say thank to the work of Ian Y. Choi and the Korea user
group [2]. You inspired us.

[openstack-dev] [Freezer][release] A reminder to release Freezer at Stein-1

This is just a reminder that we are in the probation period of keeping
Freezer as an official project (deadline is Stein-2). So, we need to
release Freezer at Stein-1 this week (actually it's last week). Even though
it's not required anymore [1], we need to do this to evaluate our effort to
revive Freezer as we agreed.

Thank Doug for coordinating this,

Is there any way for us to update the health of the Searchlight project to
reflect the current state? Right now the status is not good to attract new
contributors.

One thing comes up in my mind when preparing for the stein-1 release of
Searchlight that is what should we do with the missing releases (i.e.
Rocky)? Can I just ignore it or do I have to create a branch for it?

Thanks and regards,

Not sure if anyone is aware of [1] in openstack-infra that is trying to
always build universal wheels by default for all projects. Please avoid
adding universal wheels to the project setup.cfg.

[openstack-dev] [release][searchlight] Need rights to create stable branches and tags

2018-09-13 Thread Trinh Nguyen
Dear Release Management team,

As we're reaching the Stein-1 milestone, I would like to prepare the
branches and tags. According to the documents, it's the job of the Release
Management team but it also says I as the PTL can do it. I wonder which is
the best way because Searchlight has missed several milestones.

It would be great if anyone in the Release Management team can give me some
advice.

Best regards,

[openstack-dev] [Searchlight] Virtual PTG topic updating

2018-09-10 Thread Trinh Nguyen
Hi Searchlight team,

Because we don't have the team meeting this week so I'm planning to
organize the virtual PTG on 20th Sep, 12:00 UTC. Please join me on the IRC
channel (#openstack-searchlight) and find out an appropriate schedule. The
purposes of this meeting are:

   - Talk to the team face-to-face virtually (using Zoom) :)
   - Discuss about how we will release in Stein-1
   - Update project's progress.

Please put your discussion topics on the Etherpad link [1] so we can fix
the schedule accordingly.

Story: https://storyboard.openstack.org/#!/story/2003677

[openstack-dev] [Searchlight] Action plan for Searchlight in Stein

2018-08-22 Thread Trinh Nguyen
Dear team,

Here is my proposed action plan for Searchlight in Stein. The ultimate goal
is to revive Searchlight with a sustainable number of contributors and can
release as expected.

1. Migrate Searchlight to Storyboard with the help of Kendall
2. Attract more contributors (as well as cores)
3. Clean up docs, notes
4. Review and clean up patches [1] [2] [3] [4]
5. Setting up goals/features for Stein. We will need to have a virtual PTG
(September 10-14, 2018, Denver) since I cannot attend it this time.

This is our Etherpad for Stein, please feel free to contribute from now on
until the PTG:

Hi Thierry,

I just saw that link. Thanks :)

Because I couldn't contact any of the core members I emailed this list. I
will update the searchlight-core as planned after I am added.

[openstack-dev] [TC][Searchlight] Setting up milestones for Searchlight on Launchpad

2018-08-21 Thread Trinh Nguyen
Dear TC and Searchlight team,

In an effort to get Searchlight back on track, I would like to set up
milestones as well as clean up the incomplete bugs, blueprints etc. on
Launchpad [1] I was added to the Searchlight Drivers team but I still can
not touch the milestone configuration.

In addition, I would like to move forward with unreviewed patched on Gerrit
so I need PTL privileges on Searchlight project. Do I have to wait for [2]
to be merged?

[openstack-dev] [Freezer] Reactivate the team

2018-08-17 Thread Trinh Nguyen
Dear Freezer team,

Since we have appointed a new PTL for the Stein cycle (gengchc2), I suggest
that we should reactivate the team follows these actions:

   1. Have a team meeting to formalize the new leader as well as discuss
   the new direction.
   2. Grant PTL privileges for gengchc2 on Launchpad and Project Gerrit
   repositories.
   3. Reorganize the core team to make sure we have enough active core
   reviewers for new patches.
   4. Clean up bug reports, blueprints on Launchpad, as well as unreviewed
   patched on Gerrit.

I hope that we can revive Freezer.

Best regards,

[openstack-dev] [Searchlight] Reaching out to the Searchlight core members for Stein

2018-08-17 Thread Trinh Nguyen
Dear Searchlight team,

As you may know, the Searchlight project has missed several milestones,
especially the Rocky cycle. The TC already has the plan to remove
Searchlight from governance [1] but I volunteer to take over it [2]. But
due to the unresponsive on IRC and launchpad, I send this email to reach
out to all the Searchlight core members to discuss our plan in Stein as
well as re-organize the team. Hopefully, this effort will work well and may
bring Searchlight back to life.

If anyone on the core team sees this email, please reply.

My IRC is dangtrinhnt.

They are projected to be released in Rocky.
