[openstack-dev] [tricircle][trio2o] trio2o git repo ready and tricircle splitting

2016-09-18 Thread joehuang
hello, team,

Trio2o git repository is ready now: https://github.com/openstack/trio2o

The repository inherited all files and commit messages from Tricircle.

It's now the time start to do the tricircle splitting: a blue print is
registere for Tricircle cleaning:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/tricircle/+spec/make-tricircle-dedicated-for-networking-automation-across-neutron.There
are lots of documentation work to do. Please review these doc in the BP,
thanks.

There are some proposal for patches during the splitting:

1. For patch which is already in review status, let's review it in Tricircle
(no matter it's for Trio2o or Tricircle), after it's get merged, then port it
to Trio2o. After all patches get merged, let's have a last tag for Tricircle to
cover both gateway and networking automation function. Then the cleaning will
be done in Tricircle to make Tricircle as a project for networking automation
only
2. For new patch which is only applicable to Trio2o, I propose that we submit
such patches in Trio2o only, no need to submit in Tricircle.

Would like to know your thoughts on the splitting.

Best Regards
Chaoyi Huang(joehuang)

+1 for the proposal. What about the codes for Pod operation? It seems that
both Tricircle and Trio2o need these codes. We submit patches to these two
projects separately?

Thank you for your comment, Zhiyuan.

For pod management, because these two projects need to run independently, I
think submit patches separately as needed may be a better choice.

[openstack-dev] [fuel][plugin] Is there a way to change plugin html dynamically?

2016-09-18 Thread Wang, Peter (Xu)

Hi Fuel dev,

I am studying the development of fuel plugin and usage of some existing plugins.

I wondered is there a way to change the Plugin layout in settings page
dynamically:

Take netapp's plugin as the example:
https://github.com/openstack/fuel-plugin-cinder-netapp/blob/master/figures/cinder-netapp-7mode-iscsi-plugin.png
Looks like admin can only add one netapp backend for one OpenStack cluster from
the GUI, but what if user own 2 netapp devices to be managed?

*From GUI side:
How can I do that as a plugin developer? Any reference guides on the layout
yaml files are welcome (environment_config.yaml)

*From puppet module side:
Any reference implementation for how to enable multiple cinder backends in
multi-backend enabled environment in one time?

Thanks
Peter

[openstack-dev] [tricircle]PTL candidacy

2016-09-18 Thread joehuang
Hello,

This is Chaoyi Huang(nick: joehuang), I would like to nominate myself as
Tricircle PTL in Ocata release.

Before look forward to what to do in Ocata release, I want to have a short look
back what's Tricircle has done in Newton release. The objectives and our
progress in Newton release are:
* Cross OpenStack L2 networking: "local network" and "shared vlan" supported in
Tricircle for L2/L3 networking functionalities, this is a great fundamental for
our Newton release.
* Dynamic pod binding: the framework is in review.
* Tempest and basic VM/Volume operation: tempest based check and gate test has
been integrated into the process, support basic features tempest
* Keep Tricircle follow OpenStack open source development guideline to make
Tricircle project as open as any other OpenStack project, so that more and
more talents would like to join and contribute in Tricircle, and target at
being a big tent project of OpenStack, being member of OpenStack eco-system and
help the eco-system to address the problem domain in multi-OpenStack cloud, no
matter it's in one site or multi-site: now Tricircle is applying big-tent
application, and the splitting is ongoing, and glad to see more and more
contributors join Tricricle community.

This is great progress for Tricricle based on every contributor's great effort.

As the Tricircle will be splitted and dedicate for cross Neutron networking
automation, my vision for Tricircle Ocata will based on our basis in Newton
release and what we discussed in these weeks:

* Ensure the Tricircle splitting smoothly with quality.
* Continue cross OpenStack L2/L3 networking, and work with upstream projects
like Neutron, L2GW
* Being better citizen in OpenStack, continue the big-tent application, and
collaboration with other projects
* enhance the installation method and make it easier to play Tricircle, so that
more contributors would like to join Tricircle.
* Start advance networking service support in Ocata for Tricircle if possible

Since the Tricircle project tries to address very fundamental cross Neutron
networking automation chanllenges, it's exciting to work and contribute in such
a project, let's enjoy the journey.

Best Regards
Chaoyi Huang(joehuang)

Hi,
I saw that Armando has put himself up for reelection. I would like to endorse
him and vote a big +1 for him doing the job in the next cycle. One of the hard
things about working in this environment is that it is very hard to get any
feedback. I think that over the last cycle you have grown and have done a very
good job.

Argh! I spotted your talk but somehow failed to spot the conflict.

I think the simpler would be to swap the Puppet workroom at 9:50am with
the Watcher workroom at 11:50am. Antoine: would that work for you ?

Hi Ivan,

It sounds cool!

for security group and allowed address pair,
Maybe we can disable port-security,because all the docker in one vm will share
one security group on the vm port. I'm not sure how to use sg for each
docker, maybe just disable port-security can be one of the choice. then do not
need allowed address pairs in this case.

在 2016年9月12日,19:31,Coughlan, Ivan
mailto:ivan.cough...@intel.com>> 写道:

Overview
Kuryr proposes to address the issues of double encapsulation and exposure of
containers as neutron entities when containers are running within VMs.
As an alternative to the vlan-aware-vms and use of ovs within the VM, we
propose to:
-
Use allowed-address-pairs configuration for the VM neutron port
-
Use IPVLAN for wiring the Containers within VM
In this way:
-
Achieve efficient data path to container within VM
-
Better leverage OpenStack EPA(Enhanced Platform Awareness) features to
accelerate the data path (more details below)
-
Mitigate the risk of vlan-aware-vms not making neutron in time
-
Provide a solution that works on existing and previous openstack releases
This work should be done in a way permitting the user to optionally select this
feature.
Required ChangesThe four main changes we have identified in the current kuryr
codebase are as follows:
・
Introduce an option of enabling “IPVLAN in VM” use case. This can be achieved
by using a config file option or possibly passing a command line argument. The
IPVLAN master interface must also be identified.
・
If using “IPVLAN in VM” use case, Kuryr should no longer create a new port in
Neutron or the associated VEth pairs. Instead, Kuryr will create a new IPVLAN
slave interface on top of the VM’s master interface and pass this
slave interface to the Container netns.
・
If using “IPVLAN in VM” use case, the VM’s port ID needs to be identified so we
can associate the additional IPVLAN addresses with the port. This can be
achieved by querying Neutron’s show-port function and passing the VMs
IP address.
・
If using “IPVLAN in VM” use case, Kuryr should associate the additional IPVLAN
addresses with the VMs port. This can be achieved using Neutron’s
allowed-address-pairs flag in the
port-update function. We intend to make use of Kuryr’s existing IPAM
functionality to request these IPs from Neutron.
Asks
We wish to discuss the pros and cons.
For example, containers exposure as proper neutron entities and the utility of
neutron’s allowed-address-pairs is not yet well understood.
We also wish to understand if this approach is acceptable for kuryr?
EPA
The Enhanced Platform Awareness initiative is a continuous program to enable
fine-tuning of the platform for virtualized network functions.
This is done by exposing the processor and platform capabilities through the
management and orchestration layers.
When a virtual network function is instantiated by an Enhanced Platform
Awareness enabled orchestrator, the application requirements can be more
efficiently matched with the platform capabilities.

I'm probably the one to blame for that. Kolla follows milestones but is
trailing the release, which makes it a bit of a release snowflake. I
wasn't sure we should cut the stable branch at RC1 for such a case
(since you're still far away from final).

We should discuss what to do here (branch ASAP, branch at RC2...) on
Monday on the release channel when Doug is around.

FWIW Doug has been working on a spec so that projects communicate more
clearly when they want the release branch to be cut. For
milestone-driven projects it's usually clear (we branch at RC1), but for
other cases (intermediary-released, trailing) options are a bit more
open so having a way (through the openstack/releases repo) to clearly
communicate "when" will definitely help.

[openstack-dev] [horizon] ListField in Horizon

2016-09-18 Thread Janki Chhatbar
Hi

I am working on a dashboard's panel that needs an input as a "list". I
couldnot find any "ListField" (like CharFiled) in Horizon forms.

Is there any other field type that takes input as a list or this needs to
be developed?

Re: [openstack-dev] [tricircle]PTL candidacy

2016-09-18 Thread HU, BIN

From: joehuang [mailto:joehu...@huawei.com]
Sent: Sunday, September 18, 2016 2:27 AM
To: openstack-dev
Subject: [openstack-dev] [tricircle]PTL candidacy

Sorry about that, the Cinder device where it stores images had a
communication issue and needed to be checked and remounted. It
should be working now if you want to try again.

[openstack-dev] [nova][neutron] summit cross-project session

2016-09-18 Thread Matt Riedemann
I want to confirm whether or not we're going to have a nova/neutron
cross-project fishbowl session in Barcelona, I think we are. Since
Thierry has the draft slots out I wanted to start looking at what time
is going to work.

Looking at:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TQ-RSlbiBBEclkonIbfUP7R1ExZSJylF1uiEKV2G_Cw/pubhtml?gid=1107826458&single=true

Anytime on Thursday afternoon would work - agreed? I'd like to pencil
something in.

As far as topics, I think we'll pull from the neutron midcycle report:

http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2016-August/102366.html

So mainly live migration and API interaction improvements.

[openstack-dev] Candidacy for cloudkitty PTL

2016-09-18 Thread Christophe Sauthier

Hello everyone,

I would like to announce my candidacy to become cloudkitty's PTL for
the Ocata release.

Being present in the OpenStack community since almost its beginning,
I have been involved at different levels and community (development,
french community, business side...).
In the past I gave numerous talks about Cloudkitty and its integration
with other solutions to both dev and/or end-users.

Being of the 2 co-father of cloudkitty, I have followed all the
steps of that project (from the Proof of Concept we have shown to
some community members in Atlanta's Summit to the Newton Cycle).

Cloudkitty entered the big tent about a year ago, and we have seen
some new contributors but we failed so far to keep them so far.
That is one of the big challenge I want to tackle in the O cycle.

The other one would be to have a more user-centric approach, to both
ease their usage of the component but also try to have a stronger
coordination with their needs.

I also want to mention that I have been acting as a PTL for
cloudkitty for the last few weeks, due to the absence of the
current one.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all members of
the OpenStack community who helped our team during the lasts cycles.

Thank you,
Christophe

Re: [openstack-dev] [OpenStack-I18n] [horizon] Question on a singular/plural string use in openstack_dashboard

2016-09-18 Thread Akihiro Motoki
Hi Ian,

gettext itself allows this pattern [1] but django compilemessage
expects variables with same names are used in all plural forms (See
Note in [2]).
IMHO it is better to use same variables in all plural forms in code as
possible as we can.
As translator, I try to use the second pattern (i.e., plural form) as
source string as a plural form contains sufficient and full pattern in
most cases.
What I am not sure is this happens only for languages with nplural==1
(like Korean, Japanese and so on).

[openstack-dev] [all][elections] PTL nomination period is now over

2016-09-18 Thread Tristan Cacqueray
PTL Nomination is now over. The official candidate list is available on
the election website[0].

There are 4 projects without candidates, so according to this
resolution[1], the TC we'll have to appoint a new PTL for Astara,
OpenStackSalt, OpenStack UX, Security

There are 6 projects that will have an election: Freezer, Ironic,
Keystone, Kolla, Magnum and Quality_Assurance. The details for those
will be posted shortly after we setup the CIVS system.

Thank you, Akihiro-san.

2016-09-16 18:57 GMT+09:00 Ian Y. Choi :

Hello,

Recently, thanks to the help from Andreas, I am investigating on a broken
job
for the translation import of Horizon project [1].
The actual error message is
: openstack_dashboard/locale/ko_KR/LC_MESSAGES/django.po:8273: a format
specification for argument 'req' doesn't exist in 'msgstr[0]'

And then I have found that this error was from a string in horizon -
openstack_dashboard [2]

 error_message = ungettext_lazy(
'The requested instance cannot be launched as you only '
'have %(avail)i of your quota available. ',
'The requested %(req)i instances cannot be launched as you '
'only have %(avail)i of your quota available.',
 count)
 params = {'req': count,
   'avail': available_count}

In i18n translation infrastructure, only one of two (for singular and
plural) strings should be
selected, translated, saved, and finally imported back to Horizon project as
[1].
However, the first string only used "%(avail)i" string variable,
and the second string used both "%(req)i" and "%(avail)i" string variables.

Since one Korean translator selected the first string, there will be no
"%(req)i" in Korean po file, which generates such an error.
So my suggestion is to use the same string variables for both two strings
when we use ungettext_lazy function.

Is it a bug from Horizon? Would it be other issues when we change like
: from 'The requested instance cannot be launched as you only ' to 'The
requested %(req)i instance cannot be launched as you only '?

Sorry about that, the Cinder device where it stores images had a
communication issue and needed to be checked and remounted. It
should be working now if you want to try again.

Hi Adam,
No it's just the standard gerrit review system. Once git review tells you
the change is uploaded it should be visible in gerrit.

I see 2 nominations from you that both arrived after the cut off. Which means
that the TC will be bound by [1].

During the next week the election officials will let the TC know about
leaderless projects and the TC will determine the correct course of action.

Yours Tony.

Re: [openstack-dev] [all] Barcelona Design Summit track layout

2016-09-18 Thread joehuang
Tricircle (now turn to be dedicated for cross Neutron networking automation)
would like
to have one BoF session and design session (or combined?) in Barcelona summit,
is it
possible to have a meeting room for that.

Tricircle splitting is ongoing, wiki/design doc update started, and draft is
ready for
review, the source code cleaning starts soon, hopefully will be ready before
Barcelona summit.

A blue print has been registered to track the splitting:

Hi Thierry,

As we discussed during the last meeting, we agreed that 6wr + cm is absolutely
enough for sahara. So, we can release one working room for other projects (for
example Wed, 3:05 to 3:45)

On Fri, Sep 16, 2016 at 5:22 PM, Thierry Carrez

Hi everyone,

I mapped the slot allocation (which I sent on Tuesday) to the available
rooms in Barcelona, trying to take into account all the constraints you
submitted and to avoid conflicts with talks on the conference side. Here
is the result:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TQ-RSlbiBBEclkonIbfUP7R1ExZSJylF1uiEKV2G_Cw/pubhtml?gid=1107826458&single=true

This is a pretty brittle (and unfun to build) house of cards, so I'd
rather minimize the number of changes we push to it at this stage. A few
things:

1. If you have a *hard* conflict that I failed to take into account
(like the PTL is giving a talk during the one and only fishbowl room the
team has), let me know and I'll try to find someone you could swap with.

2. If you already know that you won't be using a given slot, let me know
which one(s) ASAP and I'll remove your team from it to make it available
for others. (NB: Freezer already gave up 2 wr slots)

3. If you would like to swap two slots, make sure both PTLs agree and
let me know. I'll check that it doesn't create other conflicts and make
it happen.

4. If you're an official or prospective team and you notice an empty
slot that you'd like to use, let me know which one. I'll collect the
requests and try to satisfy them. Note that the page will be refreshed
as teams liberate extra slots they don't plan to use -- come back often!
Priority will be given to teams which don't have representation at all.

5. We have to make the schedule "official" and push it to the main event
schedule very soon. Please suggest all changes before end of next week
(September 25) -- after that the layout will be frozen as we map it to
real room numbers and publish it.

Thanks!

I sympathize. That captcha addition is one of several tools we're
leveraging currently to combat the ongoing spam/scammer/vandalism
problems on wiki.openstack.org, as an alternative to shutting it
down completely. Unfortunately even now I still spend a chunk of
every day blocking new accounts created by abusers and cleaning up
all their modifications, but am hoping that with other improvements
we have pending the onslaught will lessen and we can revisit some of
the more intrusive mechanisms on which we've been forced to rely
(for example, I think we should be able to configure it so that
users whose previous edits have been confirmed by a wiki admin are
added to a group that bypasses the captcha, and then get a team of
wiki groomers in the habit of adding known good accounts to that
group).

Indeed - fungi has been doing amazing work :(

I have been adding "known good" accounts to such a group - there's
about
64 so far:

https://wiki.openstack.org/w/index.php?title=Special:ListUsers&group=autopatrol

How would someone get in said list?

$100 donation to the buy-fungi-beer fund.

... and/or email me a link to your wiki user page (Click in the top
right, click on your username)

I'm also going through the recent edits and adding people to get the
"bulk" of us in there, when time permits. Anyone else that wants to
help is welcome.

Is it possible to disable CAPTCHA for users in group "autopatrol"?

Subject: [openstack-dev] [Fuel] Getting rid of ISO

Dear colleagues,
We finally have working custom deployment job that deploys Fuel admin node
using online RPM repositories (not ISO) on vanilla Centos 7.0.

Currently all Fuel system and deployment tests use ISO and we are planning to
re-implement all these jobs (including BVT, SWARM, and Fuel CI jobs) to exclude
ISO from the pipeline. That will allow us to get rid of ISO as our deliverable
and instead rely totally on package repositories. Linux distributions like
Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, etc. are already delivered via ISO/qcow2/etc. images and
we'd better stop reinventing a wheel and support our own ISO build code. That
will allow us to make Fuel admin node deployment more flexible.

I will infrom about our next steps here in the thread.

OK I’ve made some changes to support this, will push this to my branch shortly.

Yeah exactly, I think it is ok with these disabled. We can just trust that
influx retention policies work.

No performance numbers. Do you have a test in mind so I can compare. Is there a
standard way to test this?
