Re: [openstack-dev] [Congress] Congress Usecases VM
I think I'm seeing similar errors, but I'm not certain. With the OVA I downloaded last night, when I run "./rejoin-stack.sh", I get "Couldn't find ./stack-screenrc file; have you run stack.sh yet?" Concerning the original page with setup instructions, at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ispwf56bX8sy9T0KZyosdHrSR9WHEVA1oGEIYA22Orw/pub , I note that the the login user and password is different (probably obvious), and obviously the required path to "cd" to. Also, after starting the VM, the instructions say to run "ifconfig" to get the IP address of the VM, and then to ssh to the VM. This seems odd. If I've already done "interact with the console", then I'm already logged into the console. The instructions also describe how to get to the Horizon client from your browser. I'm not sure what this should say now. These errors seem to due to the order in which the services are coming up. Hence I still depend on running stack.sh after the VM is up and running. Please try out the new VM - also advise if you need to add any of your use cases. Also re-join starts "screen" - do we expect the end user to know how to use "screen". I do understand that running "stack.sh" takes time to run - but it does not do things that appear to be any kind of magic which we want to avoid in order to get the user excited. We want the Openstack to be running when the user instantiates the Usecase-VM. However creating a OVA file is possible only when the VM is halted which means Openstack is not running and the user will have to run devstack again (which is time consuming) when the VM is restarted. The option is to take a snapshot. It appears that taking a snapshot of the VM and using it in another setup is not very straight forward. It involves modifying the .vbox file and seems that it is prone to user errors. I am leaning towards halting the machine and generating an OVA file. Good idea, but that also made no difference. In any case, I don’t think this is attempting a direct ssh connection, so I don’t see how setting up a ssh proxy would make any difference. I'm following the instructions at http://docs.openstack.org/infra/manual/developers.html#accessing-gerrit-over-https , for configuring git-review to use https on port 443, but this still isn't working (times out with "Could not connect to gerrit"). I've confirmed that I can reach other external sites on port 443. Can someone give me a hand with this? Re: [openstack-dev] Looking for help getting git-review to work over https
I don’t know if ssh is general is blocked. I’ve been hearing about Corkscrew. I guess I’ll try installing it on my CentOS7 VM. Does anyone know if this page is accurate: http://www.confignotes.com/2013/10/corkscrew/ ? Did you setup a proxy? I setup 'corkscrew' under Ubuntu. After installing, created a .ssh/config file with: Host review.openstack.org<http://review.openstack.org> ProxyCommand corkscrew 80 %h %p The proxy host is one that allows HTTP/HTTPS to outside world and corkscrew tunnels the SSH through to port 80.
