Re: [openstack-dev] [infra][stackalytics] some projects not visible in stackalytics now

2016-01-11 Thread joehuang
Hi, Thierry,

Thanks for explanation. One question is whether these projects (like Kingbird,
Tacker, Tricircle) will be listed in stackalytics.com any more, maybe not in
the "OpenStack others", but "Others" category?

It's also important for Technical Committee/others to know the contribution of
one project, especially useful for the TC when the project ask for TC approve.

Best Regards

No. As was made pretty clear when Stackforge was decommissioned (but apparently
not clear enough), being hosted under the OpenStack infrastructure does not
equate being an official OpenStack project (under the "big tent"). To become an
OpenStack project, you need to help with the OpenStack Mission and follow the
OpenStack way, and then apply to the Technical Committee for recognition.

Only TC-recognized projects are allowed to use the OpenStack name in
conjunction with their project name, so calling them "openstack others"
projects is misleading.

I totally agree. Stackalytics contains data for non-OpenStack projects
anyway (see under "complementary"), so I think it's fine to list
unofficial projects under "Others" or "Unofficial".

We should take the opportunity to rename those from "openstack-others"
to "Others", since there is nothing like an OpenStack "other project" in
our governance. A project is either in the big tent and an OpenStack
project, or it's not an OpenStack project.

All the projects you are mentioning are hosted on the OpenStack
infrastructure (in the space formally known as Stackforge) but are not
official OpenStack projects.

Hi Thierry,

Does this mean big tent projects = TC approved ? My understanding was that
for those project migrated from stackforge to OpenStack infra now, is
OpenStack big tent projects but not TC-approved OpenStack projects.

The "big tent" is just the official OpenStack project teams listed
at https://governance.openstack.org/reference/projects/ and has
nothing to do with whether there's an "openstack/" at the beginning
of a Git repository name. The big tent teams are all explicitly
approved by the TC, however don't confuse that with the "TC Approved
Release" which is something else:
https://governance.openstack.org/reference/tags/tc-approved-release.html

The Tacker[1] project is also missing from the list of Openstack-other projects
on stackalytics.

Maybe I missed some mail, don’t know what happened, or something wrong in
