Re: [openstack-dev] [neutron][upgrade] new 'all things upgrade' subteam
UPD: note that there turned out to be complications with using #openstack-meeting-2 for the meeting, so we’ll have it in #openstack-meeting-3 this week, and I’ll follow up on getting the -2 channel an official status this week. I will join the -2 channel anyway to update folks who could miss the notice. [openstack-dev] [neutron][upgrade] new 'all things upgrade' subteam
Hi all, I want to announce that there is an informal group of folks who plan to work on upgrade story for Neutron during Mitaka: getting grenade partial aka sideways up; extending grenade resource migration checks; adopting oslo.versionedobjects for more resources; providing guidance to others on upgrade scenarios; considering introducing live data migrations in database workflow; etc. We had some discussions on the matter back in Tokyo on Fri, and we saw some more interest shown after it whenever upgrades are mentioned. Seems like upgrades are the thing for Mitaka, and we have at least 5+ folks already who committed to the effort. So it seems right to have a separate subteam that would arrange the work and make sure it happens. We have a tiny etherpad with some notes from Tokyo Fri discussion: https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/neutron-upgrade-strategy There, we have a list of commitments that will hopefully start to happen in the near future. We also have a devref page up for review that should frame the work: https://review.openstack.org/241687 Two questions to those interested in taking part: - do we need irc meetings now? [I think yes, though not long ones; if so, what’s the best time/frequency for you?] - do we need a separate openstack-dev@ tag? [I suggest using "[neutron][upgrade]”). I presume we don’t need to walk thru any formal steps to spin up the subteam, and I guess we don’t document subteams anywhere, so let’s assume it happened and start working toward the goal.
