Hey All -

Just checking in on the sign up sheet. I know a few folks mentioned
they were hoping to get travel approval from their managers last week
at the Summit.

Please sign up here as soon as you can (preferably by Friday, May 6th)
and let me know if you're interested but can't confirm travel before
then: https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/Leadershiptraining

A few folks who are not TC members or TC emeriti have already
contacted me to express interest in attending. If you fall into that
category and think you might want to go to this first, experimental
round of training, and can get travel expenses covered, please feel
free to ping me now to let me know you're interested and/or talk about
logistics. Once I have a final count of TC-related attendance, I'll
make an official announcement on the dev list of extra space
available, and ask folks who are interested to sign up.

It was great to speak with so many of you about this in Austin last week!

Thanks,

Just a quick note on that training. I didn't follow the training
myself (yet) so what I will say is only what I have heard.

Zingerman is a company quoted in nearly every book that consider
alternative ways of managing an organization.
I think sharing this experience will be be really valuable for the TC
and board members, and for OpenStack as a whole (and the organizations
in which they are).
I hope that others will have the opportunity to join and share this experience.

I agree with Thierry that a half day to discuss how to turn the
training into action could be important (if not mandatory ;) ).

Let us know how it was :)

Only in the sense that I wanted to give non-TC folks some decent lead
time with travel arrangements if there are free spots and they want to
attend. Let's push it back a week if you all need the time to confer.

I've been waiting to have a chance to confer with folks in Austin. Are
we under a deadline to get a head-count?

Hi everyone,

Just checking in on this - if you're a current or past member of the TC and
haven't yet signed up on the etherpad [0] and would like to attend
training, please do so by tomorrow if you can! If you're waiting on travel
approval or something else before you confirm, but want me to hold you a
spot, just ping me on IRC and let me know.

If you'd like to go to leadership training and you're *not* a past or
current TC member, stay tuned - I'll know about free spots and will send
out information during the summit next week.

Thank you!

I already have family vacation planned starting the weekend after this,
so am unlikely to stick around all day on Thursday.

You mention that there was only minimal interest in adding a third
day. To make the oversea trip more worthwhile for me, I'll definitely
be there on Thursday, so we could also have (at least in the morning)
a discussion on how useful the exercise was, and if any lesson is

This sounds reasonable to me! Would be happy to join such session.

You mention that there was only minimal interest in adding a third day.
To make the oversea trip more worthwhile for me, I'll definitely be
there on Thursday, so we could also have (at least in the morning) a
discussion on how useful the exercise was, and if any lesson is
immediately applicable. It doesn't have to be Zing-moderated or

[openstack-dev] [tc] Leadership training dates - please confirm attendance

2016-04-13 Thread Colette Alexander
Hi everyone!

Quick summary of where we're at with leadership training: dates are
confirmed as available with ZingTrain, and we're finalizing trainers with
them right now. *June 28/29th in Ann Arbor, Michigan.*

https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/Leadershiptraining

Has updated info, a sample itinerary that's currently being worked on, and
a request for current/recent past TC to please sign up/reserve your spot if
you know you can attend. I'm also probably bugging you on IRC this week a
lot, for good measure. I'm currently waiting on an address for the training
site so I can give decent hotel recs. Keep an eye on the etherpad for that
in the next two days.

I would *really* love to get as many current and past TC members to this as
possible, but totally understand that is dependent on personal schedules
and travel budgets. *If you are uninterested or unable to attend, please
let me know ASAP,* as I'd like to get a count of how many spots are
potentially open for non-TC members of the community who'd like to attend.
I would like to confirm open space on this list by next Friday, April 22nd,
to allow community members who are interested to sign up throughout the end
of April and into early May.

Do let me know if you have any other questions, too.
