[openstack-dev] [telemetry] Newton design summit planning

2016-04-05 Thread Julien Danjou
Hi folks,

I've started to fill in the blank for our next design summit sessions.
The schedule is at:

https://www.openstack.org/summit/austin-2016/summit-schedule/global-search?t=Telemetry%3A

We still have the 2 first work sessions empty, because I ran out of
idea. I've used the Etherpad we previously announced¹ to build the
schedule. Let me also know if you think we should shuffle things around.

Any items/ideas we could discussion in this remaining sessions?
Any project we could/should invite to discuss with us?

Cheers,

Nova has started work on versioned notifications:

http://specs.openstack.org/openstack/nova-specs/specs/mitaka/implemented/versioned-notification-api.html

That in itself is probably something to be aware of but also:

If the group working on that (Balazs Gibizer and co) is interested
they might be encouraged to explore changing the nova compute
manager to produce, as notifications, some of the information the
ceilo compute pollsters get.

I support this idea. However I'd like to note that my current priority is to
transform
the legacy nova notifications to the new versioned framework[1]. Of course it
shall not prevent us to propose new notifications based on that framework.
I am definitely interested in discussing this topic on the summit. Maybe a
cross project celio-nova session would be the good place to have the right
audience and to set up the right priorities.

Cheers,
Gibi

2016-04-05 Thread gordon chung
seems fine to me. we still don't have a story around events. we just
sort of store and dump it right now. i guess this could probably fit
into ceilometer split session... or maybe everyone is cool with just
pushing things to elasticsearch and letting users play with that + kibana.
