[openstack-dev] [telemetry][ptl] Candidacy for Pike

2017-01-21 Thread Julien Danjou
Hi!

As I can observe every end of cycle, the Telemetry team has been doing an
amazing job making progress on the projects we manage this cycle. Gnocchi
gained features and traction, Aodh got new contributors, Panko started his own
destiny and Ceilometer is reducing and improving its footprint.

If you look at the release goals that have been decided or are being discussed
(Python 3.5, mod_wsgi deployment, oslo usageā€¦), you will notice our projects
are way ahead and I think it's tremendous. And our team is continuously
improving the rest of OpenStack by contributing to Oslo too. I reiterate what I
said last cycle: think it's a great achievement for a small team like us.

So, yes, I envision us continuing on this trajectory, setting the bar higher
for everyone. That's why I'm running again this time to serve the team,
managing the project in a transparent way and do everything I can to grow our
community and make people feel welcome.

We all know how barely useful we made the PTL be, and I count on keeping it
that way. :-)

Happy hacking,

(For reference, review: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/423125/)

[openstack-dev] [telemetry] PTL candidacy

2016-09-12 Thread Julien Danjou
Hi!

The Telemetry project continued improving this last cycle, and I'm really glad
of what the team achieve. We continued to reduce our technical debt a lot, and
improved various parts of our stack. We're still leading some parts of the
OpenStack development platform, and I think it's a great achievement for a
small team like us.

I want us to continue on this trajectory and continue to set the bar higher for
the projects in general. That's why I'm running again this time to serve the
team as team lead. I'll continue to manage the project in a transparent way and
do everything I can to grow our community and make people feel welcome.

The goals I set for Newton have mostly been met: Panko is real, we reduced
hard-coupling and technical debt, and added some fancy new features here and
there.

Looking forward to Ocata, I hope we'll be able to continue improving in that
direction. We still have a lot of things to do, such as improving our
documentation, API ref, etc and making our stack more solid.

And I know we'll do this!

Cheers,

[openstack-dev] [telemetry] PTL Candidacy

2016-03-15 Thread Julien Danjou
Hi there,

The Telemetry project had a tremendous run so far, and I'm willing to help it
continue on that trajectory. We have an awesome community, and we had the
chance to be led by great leaders so far, which directed the team and projects
in an open and enthusiast manner.

Our previous PTL helped the community to grow in a fabulous way over the last 2
cycles, and I'm glad to be able to follow his footsteps. As you may know, I've
already been Ceilometer PTL during the Havana and Icehouse cycles, and it'd be
with a great pleasure that I would take up the torch again. I'll continue to
manage the project in a transparent way and do everything I can to grow our
community and make people feel welcome.

Looking forward to Newton, I hope we'll be able to continue improving our
deliverables. Some items I'd like to target are:

- Continue splitting Ceilometer into smaller parts. Aodh has been a success,
it's time to create another one.

- Continue code refactoring and technical debt addressing. We're probably one
of the most aggressive and efficient project on that, but that gives us an
  amazing outlook.

- Reduce Ceilometer hard-coupling to OpenStack projects.
We applied this strategy from scratch to Gnocchi, and to some extent to Aodh,
with great success. Let's continue that.

Cheers,
