Re: [Openstack-operators] Docs session in the Ops Track?

2016-09-20 Thread Lana Brindley
That's probably more than we're able to focus on in a session, but if Ops have
specific feedback on other docs, that session would be a good time for them to
mention it. Otherwise, they can come to relevant sessions in the Docs track
instead.

All relevant documentation for operators - which adds at least all of the
material under "Operations and Administration Guides" on d.o.o, the
configuration reference, and API reference.

Operators use other documentation besides the operations guide, which is
arguably more of an overview for potential operators than current
operators. Same for the architecture guide.

[Openstack-operators] [scientific][scientific-wg] Reminder: Scientific WG meeting Tuesday 2100 UTC

2016-09-20 Thread Stig Telfer
Hi all -

We have a Scientific WG IRC meeting on Tuesday at 2100 UTC on channel
#openstack-meeting.

The agenda is available here[1] and full IRC meeting details are here[2].

This week we have updates on Barcelona, and are looking for OpenStack-centric
picks from the Supercomputing 2016 conference schedule. I’m also interested in
discussing how people might like to change the way the WG works for the next
cycle and gather peoples thoughts for the agenda for the Barcelona committee
meeting.

If anyone would like to add an item for discussion on the agenda, it is also
available in an etherpad[3].

Best wishes,
Stig

[Openstack-operators] Volunteers needed for help with Barcelona ops meetups ( and beyond )

2016-09-20 Thread Matt Jarvis
Hello all

We're a bit thin on the ground in the ops meetup team, and could really do
with some more volunteers to help with the work of organising the Summit
and Midcycle Ops Meetups. No previous experience required, enthusiasm and
some time is all that's needed ! We're meeting regularly on
#openstack-operators, and you can find all the info on the wiki at
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Ops_Meetups_Team. Getting involved is a
great way to contribute to the community, so please do come join us.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me or any of the other
members of the team, or just drop in on IRC and say hi.

Matt

Hi Matt,everyone

I think you mean [1] and [2]. But could you comment on comment of Sergii Rizvan
(srizvan) in [3] ("archiving tables like 'instances' still fails'):
"The patches from upstream [1], [2] provide only partial fix of the original
issue. Before applying patches the command "nova-manage db
archive_deleted_rows" doesn't move the entries to the shadow tables at all
because of foreign key constraint issue. After applying patch [1] nova-manage
firstly process tables that don't have foreign keys. Patch [2] fixes issue with
archiving instance_actions and instance_actions_event. And after applying those
two patches we are able to archive some tables, but archiving tables with
foreign key constraint issue, like 'instances', still fails."
