[Openstack-operators] nova mitaka->newton online_data_migrations

2017-03-06 Thread Saverio Proto
Hello there,

before doing the upgrade, when still in Mitaka (tag 13.1.3), I am
running the folllwing command:

nova-manage db online_data_migrations

I get this output:

Option "verbose" from group "DEFAULT" is deprecated for removal. Its
value may be silently ignored in the future.
Option "notification_topics" from group "DEFAULT" is deprecated. Use
option "topics" from group "oslo_messaging_notifications".
Running batches of 50 until complete

I always get the same output.
 I also tried :
nova-manage db online_data_migrations --max-count 5000

In this case I only get the warnings about the option without 'Running
batches of 50 until complete'.

When I do not use max-count I will always get 'Running batches of 50
until complete'.

How do I understand when all the online_data_migrations are done ?

I never get anything printed like 'all done'.

thank you

Saverio

Re: [Openstack-operators] [BostonSummit] [Forum] seeking Boston Summit Forum group to discuss protected data cloud

2017-03-06 Thread George Mihaiescu
Hi Evan,

I believe the scientific working group will have at least a meeting focused
on this subject (
https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/BOS-UC-brainstorming-scientific-wg)

Contact me off-list if you want to chat about protected data, as I'm the
architect for a fairly large environment that deals exactly with this issue.

Cheers,
George

[Openstack-operators] [nova][openstack-dev] Ops midcycle Live migration session

2017-03-06 Thread Ala, Raddaoui
Hi OPS community,

The Ops midcycle is next week. I will be moderating the Nova live migration
session during that.

I put up together an etherpad as a starting point for the session. At this
point, Since this is a good opportunity for Nova team to hear back from
operators and for Operators to provide feedback to nova on
issues/painpoints/wishlist…

I strongly encourage everyone to fill/put his thoughts in the etherpad[1] where
relevant before the midcycle so that we have an efficient session.

Best regards,

Ala Raddaoui | DevOps Engineer | OpenStack Innovation Center

Looking for a Workgroup or BoF at the Boston Summit where we can
discuss the design and use of a Ceph-backed OpenStack cloud
environment for research computing with protected data (e.g., NIH GDS,

If anyone thinks this is a fit for their group, let me know.

Re: [Openstack-operators] Migration to StoryBoard

2017-03-06 Thread Kendall Nelson
Hello Saverio,

Yes, eventually you will be filing bugs in StoryBoard instead of Launchpad.
There is no set date yet, the migration process is just starting (smaller
projects with less cross project issues are going first). Later we will
have a larger migration with the rest of the projects. I just wanted to
make you aware of the new tool so you could look around and get used to it
ahead of time. Also, if you come across any bugs while you are getting used
to the new tool you can file them there in the openstack-infra/storyboard
project.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hello Kendall Nelson,

thanks for you email about Story Board. I did not understand if as
Openstack operators, are we supposed to open bugs on storyboard
instead of Launchpad ? When this starts ?

thank you

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it today, my day is fully packed with
meetings and calls. I'll look at the etherpad tomorrow.
