As far as Issue Tracking goes, I think we need a single system that shows all the projects. Users can go there to file bugs on "OpenStack". Then the system should allow, for a given bug number, to set tasks in multiple subprojects and/or downstream projects andor companion projects (documentation tasks for example). That's pretty much the description of how LP currently works, and I think it provides a nice consistent experience for the users and developers. For release timing, I'd add that there is a "default milestone plan" (discussed at the design summit, currently a 4-week plan) that projects should use if they have no reason to use something else. Or consider there is a unique vetted "4-week time-based plan" option and grant Swift an exception retrospectively if they have a reason to differ. There is value in coordinating milestone dates, from an "integrated product" testing standpoint. -- Thierry Carrez (ttx) Release Manager, OpenStack ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~openstack-poc Post to : openstack-poc@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~openstack-poc More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Openstack-poc] Meeting Items
We have several agenda items for today's meeting at 2000UTC/3:00 PM CDT: http://wiki.openstack.org/Governance/PPB 1. Common project tooling and process (autonomy) 2. Github + Gerrit review 3. Deadline for Essex core projects applications For Item 1, I have created a draft in the wiki: http://wiki.openstack.org/Governance/Proposed/ProjectToolingAndPractices . Please review and let me know any feedback you have or if I missed any key points from the discussions. I would like to take the content of that page and add it to the previously approved project page (http://wiki.openstack.org/ProjectTypes) which already discussed some of the philosophy issues. Re: [Openstack-poc] Agenda for today ?
I'm in India today, so I might not make a 2am meeting. My votes are as follows: > 1) Should OS projects > a) have a vetted set of options for hosting and review, or > b) be required to use a single toolset for review and hosting b. This is on the grounds that I would like developers to be able to move from project to project with minimal effort, and one toolset will allow that. > 2) Shall Gerrit+Git be included in the set of vetted options or be the > single option (dependent on the vote result for 1) above) Yes, on the grounds that git is the shizzle. [Openstack-poc] Agenda for today ?
Hello everyone, Jay announced on the ML that the PPB would vote today on: 1) Should OS projects a) have a vetted set of options for hosting and review, or b) be required to use a single toolset for review and hosting 2) Shall Gerrit+Git be included in the set of vetted options or be the single option (dependent on the vote result for 1) above) but that was not added to the agenda yet. Does everyone feel ok to vote on that this week ? Another item that we need to discuss is deadline for Incubation -> Core Essex promotions. We decided that new core projects cannot be added in the middle of a development cycle, but must be voted on before it starts. What is the last date we accept to consider new core projects for Essex ? In order to prepare the design summit correctly, I think one month before Design Summit (so September 3) is the latest acceptable date. But if we want to require that the first PTL is elected, with elections being organized this month, that means the latest date is like... next week's meeting. Whatever the decision is, it should be publicized and the candidates should be warned :) -- Thierry Carrez (ttx) Release Manager, OpenStack ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~openstack-poc Post to : openstack-poc@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~openstack-poc More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
