Hi,

we are missing the 64bit version of the openmotif22-libs package. Where can we
find them?

[opensuse] Switch User - Start New Session starts with 640x480 dimensions in 10.3

2007-10-07 Thread Christoph Bartoschek
Hi,

I have installed opensuse 10.3 and are quite confident with it. However If I
start a second sesssion via StartMenu - Switch User - Start New Session,
the new session is always only 640x480 pixels big. Not the 1280x1024 of the
first session and of the display.

How to fix this?

[opensuse] Dmix fails with opensuse 10.3

2007-10-07 Thread Christoph Bartoschek
Hi,

with the installation of MPlayer I have a new problem with opensuse 10.3.

Playing files with MPlayer gives this error:

alsa-lib: pcm_dmix.c:833:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC semaphore

What could be wrong?

[opensuse] Upgrading from 10.1 to 10.2 with conflicts

2007-04-07 Thread Christoph Bartoschek
Hi,

I try to upgrade from 10.1 to 10.2 however I cannot get past the package
conflict stage.

There are a lot of conflicts and I try to resolve them. However there are only
two possible outcomes:

a) The whole installation crashes and is restarted.

b) I get an empty conflict list with three options: Ok - neu prüfen (check
again) Experts and Cancel. The Experts option writes a file to the
filesystem. The OK option checks something and then lets the empty list
reappear again. I cannot use cancel because the installer does not let me
past this stage with open conflicts.

What is the best way to resolve this issue?

Thanks for your answers.

I somehow got past the conflict resolving stage. I've cancelled the conflict
list, applied an Update to the newest version to the whole list and then
could close the whole packet selection dialog.

The whole package replacement took then 3 hours (two hours longer than the
fresh install of 10.1) but it succeeded.

Now the system looks ok. I am testing whether everything still works.
