[opensuse] unable to activate Auto-Scan (KlamAV)
I would like to ask about the KlamAV's Auto_Scan. When I “Enable Auto-Scan” for KlamAV, it prompt ..need to load 'dazuko' first which allow KlamAV to gain real-access to files...”. Then I click “Load Module” button, then enter root password, when it prompted, then it prompt error message : Dazuko was not loaded successfully. Please check your installation. But I have already installed dazuko in YaST, before trying activate the Auto-Scan. BTW, my computer is running OpenSUSE 10.3 (KDE), please advise me. Re: [opensuse] IDE harddisks is detected as /dev/sda but not /dev/hda
Dear Mr. Bryen, I am new to OpenSuSE 10.3, in facts, I new to all Linux too. When first time installing OpenSuSE, some technical information may not be in my concern, until discovering more reading on websites and forums than I started to confuse about the device naming. But also being confused when many website information are not specific version of SuSE. Also, because I read this website (http://en.opensuse.org/NTFS) which also wrongly stating /dev/hda1 for IDE and it is for SuSE 10.3 (see section "Installation of NTFS write support" > OpenSUSE 10.3 > For Example > PATA (IDE) drive > /dev/hda1 .. . . . .) Please understand my situation of unclear and please forgive my confusion, Thank you. __ Bryen wrote: On Fri, 2007-11-16 at 11:04 +0800, williamkow wrote: I'm newbie of SuSE, Could anybody please advise me why my IDE harddisk is being detected by OpenSuSE 10.3 (KDE) as /dev/sda but not /dev/hda Isn't it /dev/sda is referring to SCSI harddisk ? Betcha you didn't read the Release Notes during the installation. ;-) Per the release notes, openSuse now tags all drives with s instead of h. Why? I don't know, perhaps someone else can enlighten us. But your /dev/sda is working as expected. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [opensuse] Comparison: OpenSuSE vs. SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop
Thanks for your clear explanation. But I still have some doubt. As you said that, if I did NOT registerred and NOT paying the subscription, I will NOT able to get version upgrade and NO patches, and also the repositories may NOT allow to upgrade as well (can not GAIM to PIDGIN) So, whenever there is a new SLED version is released, SLED users can ignore to do the version upgrade, becuase no subsription, and my question is, can SLED users install the patches, manually, and then can SLED users do a manual uninstall the old version of repository (eg. GAIM) and then manually install the new version of repository (eg. PIDGIN) Please advise me whether it is possible and it is allowed by SLED ? Thanks. Can I install SLED on my home computer without paying a free and it will not expired or stop me from using if I NOT paying subscription fees ? Thanks. SLED10 is Novell's fully tested and supported (Enterprise ready) version of desktop linux. It is GPL software and therefore free(as in beer) for the downloading. It will not expire or become in any way incapacitated if you do not register and or pay for a subscription. The caveat being it will also not get any security updates or patches, until you register it and pay for a subscription, after the initial 30 days of free service. It also does not get any package version upgrades. Therefore, as en example even SLED10sp1 still runs GAIM and not PIDGIN and never will, that will only change when SLED11 comes out. It doesn't mean that you can't force it, but then you might as well be on openSUSE if you are willing to change packages and use a partially tested (read as cutting edge) community version. Using SLED in any environment i.e. Home, small office, laptop, corporate headquarters is 100% OK with Novell. All Novell wants of you is to pay for an updates subscription and this is not mandatory. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
