You TOTALLY missed the point. The US Post office is Self Supporting. It raises all its revenue needs and more from fees. Funding from Congress stopped years ago. (Well technically its still there but the PO pays it ALL back every year). So the self supporting post office can deliver the package anywhere in the 50 states for less than 8 bucks. NOT subsidized by Congress. Why is everybody using the thread to dump on the post office when they get it here just as fast as the next day service I paid $38 bucks for, (which still has not produced any results), and the post office can do it for way less. At this very moment I'm shipping an item to myself indirectly (to a FedEx Kinko in Spokane and then to me) that the vender refuses to ship directly. Since it's still difficult to get a box w/ linux anything pre-installed , we get counted as being in the *other* OS camp. It absolutely doesn't occur to some companies that there are folks who actually reformat the DS as soon as it gets home/office etc and install any version of linux. Mind you some companies insist you reinstall whatever was on the box when you bought it before they will even discuss hardware probs.! They do that even if what you installed was a later version of MS Windows ! My kid got a computer from Compaq IIRC that had 98 on it.. they needed W2k for school.. but when there were any probs, they couldn't get any help at all until they reinstalled 98 on the thing. you can be that company is off my list for any purchase of anything computer related. Bit shortsighted as well, after all MS *does* sell their OS in boxes, that were likely as expensive to make up as the ad campaign they launch to attempt to create a buzz among the press folks. That way, they feeling is, any *Company* w/ an intelligent IT dept will immediately upgrade all the boxes in the office. After all, it was only by getting people to take WIndows home w/ them from the office , that got them the market share they now have. Folks just wanted to be able to do email etc. "just the way it was at work"..
