[opensuse] K9copy problem solved!

2007-10-11 Thread Fred A. Miller
I found the problem with playing DVDs with Xine and Kaffeine and copying
with K9copy! There are two (2) different libdvdcss files available for
download, if you have selected most of the sites in yast for updates. I
didn't get both initially..but have now. Problem solved. Also, make
sure you scan the lists of plugins, etc. so you don't have other
problems with other software.

Hehehehehe.I KNEW you were going to do that. :)

I've been working on problems, worked all day and night, and I want to
get to bed. It's 5:45am and I've got one more thing to test.

Yeah, couldn't sleep. Down about 11pm, up at 2:20am. This retirement
is harder work than earning a living :^)

Well, I'd like to try it, and plan to in less than 2 yearswell, not
totally retire. ;)

 :) Do a
search in Yast for libdvdcss and you'll find both of them. ;) So
therebeen wanting to do that sooner or later - now I feel better.
 :) Hope you're doing well.

Yes, really. Had complete replacement of both knees and they are
really a lot better, but no more running or jumping :^(. At 67 I
 should probably accept that, though.

NO..not unless you really have to. 'Like anything else, do right
up to the limitations we haveand then some.

Wife got me a Nikon D200 to take XMas shots with. D70 went to a
friend from work, also retarded :^)

Good.ya haven't sent me any samples yet.

Pix keep me busy, take for three youth soccer teams (g-sons
participate). Crop, process/convert from raw and display on my local
 web site for the parents/relatives.

Take a look at Bibblepro..cheap and works VERY well!! I do most of
my preprocess work in it, then any extensive work in Gimp.

You should get some rest :^), cu

In a few mins..loong snooze.

Take care!

Most humble sorries, Fred, but there is only the one libdvdcss - and
I've got every conceivable site selected for upgrades/updates.

I don't suppose you have a copy of a 32-bit and a 64-bit libdvdcss on
the same system which is why you are seeing 2 different libdvdcss files?

In any case, I just tested the copy I have installed (the 32-bit) and k9
did a perfect copy of a DVD.

Cheers.

Have you tried lxdvdrip? I've used it a couple of times and it seems to
work OK. It's CLI though, but I didn't have a problem. No special
parameters that weren't in the config file except for language. Easily
 changed to English..

Thanks, Mike.I'll take a look!

If you do not need the menu structure, you can try XDVDBackup. There
is an rpm at packman's site.

No..no such file name, nor does it exist on the Net.

Fred

Sorry, I misled you with a wrong name. The program is indeed
xdvdshrink, but it is part of the package dvdshrink, which you can
find on packman's site.

Also, the win utility - DVDShrink works well under wine.

Both of them will fail with newer Sony's protection. So far I have
seen only win tolls to cope with it.

That MAY be the real failure here as well. I only know what the author said,
which may or may not be accurate. :(

You may wish to try doing the ripping with DVDdecryptor (it handles more
copy protection schemes) and then processing the files through
DVDShrink. Both work fine under recent Wine releases.

ThanksONLY as a last option. I have a thing about NOT using any
software (free or not) written for anything MickySoft.
