[opensuse] KDE4 Preview - what's needed

2007-10-11 Thread kbboykin
Hello All,

I have successfully installed OSS 10.3 64bit on my machine and accepted the
KDE4 libs, but when I boot into the KDE4 Preview desktop, I get an ugly
background and klipper with a icon with ? on it where the main menu should be.
What is needed to see the KDE4 preview under 10.3 or is this it?

Thanks,

Keith

This is it, under 10.3. Just to see what KDE4 guys do, far from usable.
Start application with right click on mouse and select Run from context menu.

And KDE4 is supposed to be finished by December? Unless I'm mistaking
what they are actually planning on releasing, this looks fairly poor
for something that is supposed to be complete in under 2 months.

Agree.
I'm right now installing Factory files from:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4/openSUSE_Factory/
to see what has been done in last few days. They don't have working menu to
start applications from. That is probably first thing to fix.

=Report from twilight zone=
Using ypm provided.

It will not install because kde4 nsplugin conflicts with kde3 nsplugin.
After few iterations of "don't install kde4 nsplugin", YaST and me came to one
item, either don't install metapackage kde4 or ignore missing kde4 nsplugin.
Ignore it.
=End of report=
