I've heard of successful tests on a GeForce Ti2. OpenGL acceleration may need a GeForce4 or FX5xxx. XVideo acceleration and some compiz effects (rain) need a GeForce 6xxx (may work with some FX5xxx, but that's messy). We cannot test all cards, that's why only a few (tested) cards are in the card database. For NVidia there is none explicitly excluded. Just not supported. I am able to get the board to work in 3D mode but I had to manually install the driver directly from Nvidia downloads using their procedure, not using YAST; the procedure (perfect setup) for YAST failed to install the driver. Neverball plays great. Has anyone been able to use the 7300 GT Nvidia with Xgl? Thanks, Clint Hi, I don't have this GPU but I do own a Geforce 4 Ti4200 - 128 Mo -AGP 8X (older) which is not recognised by Xgl hardware database. Well, I think some of these cards are recognised because I believe it is listed in the supported hardware. Anyway, launching gnome-xgl-settings tells that it is not supported but might work and that 3D and Xgl are enable. Xgl + compiz works great, although Beryl just give a white cube. I had this till I added --use-copy to the Beryl command. I was able to do an init 3 and get Xgl enabled, init 5, opened a gnome session as root, ran the settings tool, everything looked good, windows wiggled, etc. I did one reboot and xserver would lock up the system with a flashing cursor in the upper left hand corner, no keyboard control to get to a second session or anything. Would have to force a reset for a reboot. Tried various tricks, sax2 (which would reset the server and I would get the test display), tried reinstalling the Nvidia Driver both as a recompile and as install. -K and -q switches on the installer script. I would get the Nvidia splash most of the time. An associate in my LUG also had a similar experience where he had Xgl working one time and the xserver died for whatever reason. Anythoughts on this? I am going to try the touch command to get a restart on the install process stage 2 that was mentioned in an repair email here today but even if I do that, I would anticipate having the Xgl problem. I might also try killing off the xorg.conf file to get x rebuilt but I thought sax2 was basically doing that anyeay.
