[opensuse] What is, Yast Descriptions

2006-08-24 Thread jim tate

Suse 10.1
Updating with Smart package manager, I keep getting errors, Yast
descriptions are not installed.
How do I fix that, that has only happen to one PC that I installed Suse
10.1.

Is that the complete, original error message? If not, could you please
copypaste the error message here?

In any case, you might want to try rpm-md channels instead of yast2
channels... Both should work, but if one of them doesn't, switching to
the other type is an easy fix.

That is about the extent of the error message.
What do you fix?

I don't understand what that means.

I grepped /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/smart for the string Yast
descriptions are not installed and did not find a single match.

In other words, what you posted is definitely not the original text of
the error message, and helping here will be very difficult.

 What do you fix?

Nothing right now.

But wait, I just found a similar one:

YaST2 package descriptions not loaded.

That one basically means:

rm -f /var/lib/smart/channels/*
rm -f /var/lib/smart/cache

And everything should be fine again.
