The old (non-GBit) is 9512/9514, not 7412/7414, sorry for the confusion. > > Thanks for the hint, Stefan, I'm not so eager to break the case to look it > > up. > > > > lsusb reports a SMSM9512/9514 Fast Ethernet adapter - nothing with 7515 to > > grep in the output. lsusb strings may be wrong if the value is taken from the usb.ids table and not the device itself. AFAIK SMSC/Microchip uses the chip name as product id, i.e. 0x9512, 0x9514, 0x7515. Vendor/product ID are shown in lsusb as :. > Update: It is a 3+ Another possibility of course is to check if you have GBit ethernet ... Thanks for the hint, Stefan, I'm not so eager to break the case to look it up. lsusb reports a SMSM9512/9514 Fast Ethernet adapter - nothing with 7515 to grep in the output. You can get that implicitly from lsusb, 3B+ has a Microchip LAN7515 USB HUB/ Ethernet, older ones have LAN7412 (2port) or LAN7414 (4port).
