The old (non-GBit) is 9512/9514, not 7412/7414, sorry for the confusion.

lsusb strings may be wrong if the value is taken from the usb.ids table and
not the device itself. AFAIK SMSC/Microchip uses the chip name as product id,
i.e. 0x9512, 0x9514, 0x7515. Vendor/product ID are shown in lsusb as
:.

Another possibility of course is to check if you have GBit ethernet ...

Kind regards,

Stefan

Update: It is a 3+

Cheers

Thanks for the hint, Stefan, I'm not so eager to break the case to look it up.

lsusb reports a SMSM9512/9514 Fast Ethernet adapter - nothing with 7515 to
grep in the output.

Thanks
Axel

You can get that implicitly from lsusb, 3B+ has a Microchip LAN7515 USB HUB/
Ethernet, older ones have LAN7412 (2port) or LAN7414 (4port).

Kind regards,

Stefan

It is written on the board itself.

netconfig -f update
should have fixed that AFAIK.

IIRC I've seen this on my Rpi3 after the same sequence: image -> update -> no
internet after update.
