Yes, But! Hardware will always get you. Every disaster I have had has
been down to IDE controllers (twice) or something else on the
motherboards (once) trashing ALL the disk, at least on 3 occasions so
far. Even Sun got rid of the practice. I've seen symlinks like they were
going out of style when a partition ran out of space, on both Solaris
and Linux. IBM did something clever on RS6000, with smit, you could
extend a partition on the fly if it needed more space.

[opensuse-factory] feature adds to Yast

2007-02-27 Thread Donn Washburn

Hey Group;

Running SuSE 10.3 upgraded. A feature that I would like to again see in
Yast during the installation

1. A select everything button for those that would like to load
   everything.
2. A way to save a copy of the files configured to a floppy or HD
3. maybe selection for
End User KDE or Gnome
developer with or without graphic
All servers
Anyway this is just a selection idea. There is likely a better way.

Re: [opensuse-factory] fglrx compilation

2007-02-27 Thread Truth

Hi,
Personally, I think it would be more appropriate to post this to the
build service maillist.

In your case, you should get a file in the driver patched. I got a
patch from Micheal and it works for me with 2.6.20.1 x86_64 kernel and
the latest 8.34.8 fglrx on openSUSE 10.2.

The file is used for building the kernel module of fglrx. Normally,
it locates in \usr\src\kernel-modules\fglrx . Good luck.

Regards,
Thruth

Hi all

I am running 10.2, but with factory kernel (2.6.20-5-default) and gcc
4.1.3 (this allows my laptop to go to s2d with no problem).

I am trying to compile the latest fglrx (8.34.8-1) driver against it,
but I get some 800 lines of errors... rpm builds fine, but installing
the rpm fails horribly when compiling the kernel module.

Is the driver simply not meant to work with this kernel yet? Attached
a trace of the error.

Thanks.

Best,
fred

I just learned there is a third way: updating to the latest stable version
which also supports repomd. So in this case you can have the cake *and* eat
it, which I'll do after SLES10 SP1 is out of the door :)

Hello,

Some days ago putting the interface into the internal zone seemed to be
'the' solution for the moment...
It did work for a while, until showed up that the KDE configmodule:
personal settings, added parameters that caused the share to be
'unexisting'...

After finding this, and testing the Yast samba module, this module was
able to ad shares, that would be accesible.

Until i removed a share that was added just for test, and not nessesary
anymore..
After i did this the complete network was invisible, and

In general, we will update to new software released before beta 1.

So we can not promise any certain version number yet, because neither the date
of beta 1 is finally settled yet, nor the 3.0.5 release is final yet ...
