[opensuse-factory] FTP installation failure (kernel trap)

from ftp-1.gwdg.de booting with grub using local copies of factory
installation kernel  initrd
loud speaker beeps at Starting hardware detection
drivers: ata_piix, piix, generic
loading ata_piix, sym53c8xx
...
graphical YaST starts
lang and agreement selected
Loading kernel modules for hard disk controllers
(installation halted) kernel trap showing on tty4

Retry with brokenmodules=ata_piix didn't change anything

P3 700/100 on Intel 440BX chipset (Tyan S1846)
512M RAM
last partition on hda is 25 (target is hda19)
fully functional with 10.1, 10.2, OS/2  windoz
